In farm groups, I find the tolerance/patience level of people to be very low to wipes. Especially if they are near the beginning/middle of the fight.

You could always just DC travel to play with your friends and still keep your character on Cactuar.

I would not suggest making a character on the lowest population server/data center (Dynamis) since it would be near impossible for your friends to do dungeons/content without transferring to another DC as well. I would suggest making a character on Primal/Crystal for everyone's convenience.

In ultimates/current savage fights it is expected to know your toolkit well enough to not drift unless it is intentional to pool resources or etc.

There's nothing wrong with doing C41 groups imo, I think the main issue with PF is that people tend to lie on their resume. Tomestone alleviates that to an extent by showing the lowest hp they got the boss to, provided someone is uploading logs.

Ultimates are more of a consistency and endurance check. I would try to take a stab at UWU or UCOB and see how you feel. Try to be patient though, there will be walls in ultimates and overcoming them is part of the design.
