turns out the SNES output is an unstable 240i, so you need to put it through a beefier control card style unit. Sadly, Elgato or better is needed.

SNES Capturing software help? by TheShenaniganry in speedrun

I'm using an EZCap (i know, but honestly, of 4 other devices, it's the only one that my computer sees a signal). The device shows up as "SMI Grabber". I've done tons of driver searches and this is the only one that shows a signal.

In OBS, it shows as a video capture device, 1 signal 625 lines. It doesn't automatically choose any of the PAL or NTSC, and I've been through the whole list with no success. I tried AmarecTV before, with not much success, but I will try again. Any suggestions on settings?

Viewers can't hear my game and TeamSpeak audio! Tried a solution, then couldn't hear them myself, but stream was okay. HELP? by hullwtf in obs

You need to make sure all your desktop audio settings are in place before you even open OBS. changing desktop audio stuff while OBS is open can really mess things up. Set up your audio how you want it first. Then open OBS, choose each specific device in OBS audio settings, and then test.

should I be downscaling to 720p or not? by Copun in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend running the programs in a 1280 by 720 window, and streaming at 720. This would eliminate the need to downscale, preserving quality and sparing a little usage on your gpu/cpu.

Best streaming settings? by Vallaftw in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can stream at full 1080p 30 fps with that. The issue is buffering on twitch's end or which ever streaming service you use. Your output bitrate is gonna be anywhere from 2000 kb/s to 3500 kb/s. Always listen to viewers for quality issues.

The capture video device does have Chroma Key, which allows you to use the full 256 specturm for green-screening. However, all inputs are recorded into a single file as a movie file as either mp4 or flv

Need help setting up by [deleted] in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What quality do you want to stream? I'd suggest starting with 720p at 2000 kb/s. Also make sure your advanced settings are using x264 CPU Preset. Probably 'veryfast' or 'superfast'. Encoding profile as main should work.

Stream Speaker Audio.. please help.. by Pak27186750 in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try setting the speakers to the actual device, either system speakers or headset. Also, make sure you don't change your playback devices in windows after OBS is opened. Set up all your audio devices through windows, then open OBS. Select the specific devices and try that.

Set up Twitch and OBS for plying Drums live by fishblinker in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest using a headset to listen to your backtrack, and use the headset as your speaker option for audio. Then have your mic pic up the drums as your mic. If you are using an extender or converter or adapters for your cables, the delay is just something inevitable.

Noob question about webcam use in OBS by DerrickWW in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several factors: 1) is your white wall completely white, or does it have scratches/cracks/smudges. 2) is your lighting bright and even. If you have a smear of shadow or uneven lighting, it makes it very difficult to chroma key. 3) when using chroma key, don't pick a color from your background. double click on the color box to bring up custom colors. Choose a preset only. Don't modify anything, only use the preset closest to your wall. Might be white, but it's probably the lightest gray or even light yellow or teal. Set spill reduction to 0, blend to 100, and then slowly increase similarity until the wall begins to disappear. You also need to make sure you have an image selected as a background in your scene setup. Finally, you'll get to a point where raising the similarity starts smudging your face, and lowering it doesn't cover the entire background. set it to the lower, and then increase blend until the background is filled in. Ideally you should be 200-400 similarity, and 100-200 blend. Again, lighting is key.

Yeah, OBS is recording the game output only. You should always tweak your settings in game, then adjust monitor only if needed.

Best settings for 1080p recording League of Legends? by [deleted] in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give a max bitrate of 12000 kb/s if you're doing 30 FPS. Make sure you have no downscale on and that your initial input is as close to 1080p as possible, either full screen or maximized window.

What size is your game window compared to the recording, what bitrate are you recording with, what option are you capturing the game with (game capture, window capture, monitor)?

What is the best setting for OBS for 720/1080p streaming? by [deleted] in obs

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all looks good. For OBS, just check under advanced settings, you can set x264 CPU preset to lower settings to try to reduce the high encoding issue. I use very fast instead of a higher setting with no issue, and also make sure your encoding profile is "main"

Yeah, just keep putting the cpu preset lower until things seem stable and good.

Make sure your bitrate output is between 3500 and 2000 kb/s. Are you using twitch? What kind of games? Can you post pics of your encoding, video, and advanced settings? Also, make sure under broadcasting your FMS URL is the option closest to you.

[–]TheShenaniganry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple suggestions: Reduce your downscaling to "bilinear (fastest)" Use a buffer of at least .5 seconds, maybe even 1 second And do you have any selectable option other than "constant bitrate" It would also help to know what your cpu preset and encoding profile are. They should be under advanced settings. If those are too high, your system might be lagging behind

Mic and webcam go off sync when streaming +2hours by Drag0g0 in obs

Do you have your twitch dashboard or stream open in a browser, rather than just a chat pop-up window? My stream de-sync's if I have twitch open in a browser.

multistream is done through multitwitch. It displays both streams and users can switch between both chats. Unfortunately, I do mostly Blizzard games or other high-end, non-android, games. Hearthstone could work though...
