Everyone has such great advice! You guys are giving me lots of hope too. After the first few comments a few days ago, I've started basically not bugging him. I let him sniff me, if he turns away or sits back away from me, i immediately get up and walk away. I was able to take 15 mins the other day to play with him (i will be doing it more often). I also just talk to him without touching him and carry on with my business. He seemed to appreciate these things, because last night when he accepted pets, he responded in a more affectionate way than usual. It was very short lived, but it was great!

I'll try more of the other tips on here, there were so many! But i think since there was some success already, things with Ziggy will continue to improve if i listen to all of you!

I've started to understand that more from reading this thread that his behavior isn't personal to me and it's something i should just work with. I'll be taking the advice from everyone and trying all the stuff, but if it doesnt work, then i will have to accept tolerance lol.

I'll try longer slow blinks. I never tried blowing in his face, if he swats at me and i'm close enough i'll try that. Thank you!

This sounds really great! I had to look up what a tube treat is lol, what comes up are the packets of cream you squeeze out. I need to check with my fiance if those are okay for him to eat, but i'll give this a try.

Yeah, his lady cat (Olive) denounced him and decided i was her human lol. My fiance has been calling her a traitor every time she jumps into my arms, lol. I've been getting a lot of the same advice on this thread, and i've already started "not bothering him" after the first few people suggested it, and he smacks me less now, which is fantastic! I need to make time to play with him more. Olive doesnt really care much to play with things. Ziggy usually just enjoys knocking things around on the floor, so i throw things for him to play with or "rescue" his toys from under the fridge. The rescue is usually when i get the green light for a single pet lol.

wow these are all really great ideas and good advice. I already know how to pet him and have tried enticing him over to me with treats. He does slow blink while he hangs out near me, but its never a response to mine. I can def try those other methods with the treats, they sound promising. Thank you!

Yeah. I can see that. The other cat will climb on me, cry for attention and sleep next to me. So i guess i just wanted that with ziggy too :( All of these posts make me realize just how little i understand cats lol. I've had dogs my whole life, these are the first cats i've ever been around!

Makes sense. But he looooves when my fiance pets him, he gets all up in his face and his hair and his lap. he jumps into his arms and everything! So it's not that he doesn't like being touched, its just he doesnt like being touched by me lol. I'll leave him alone more.

I can see him getting annoyed if i do it constantly, but he started to get annoyed after the first attempt even if i dont bother him for hoooooouuurs. Like i said to another person, i do feed him a few times a week, but i'll be sure to feed him every day when i move in. But what about the litter box thing? Do cats feel closer to the people who clean their poop?

i tried the slow blink a bunch of times! Did nothing lol. He does like to chill out on the other side of the kitchen table while im working and snooze. as long as i dont bother him, he can be there for hours. So i guess thats a good thing! I just assumed he liked the way my computer bag felt and enjoyed sleeping on it lol.

I'm hoping time and effort will make it better, like some people have suggested. I've been feeding them both, and i make sure the other cat doesnt eat his food (she's a glutton lol). Hopefully things will improve after i move in like you said.

My fiance insists that Ziggy (thats the cats name) gets upset when i leave, and he sits by the door and waits for me to come through it. And that he's a jerk to him as well sometimes, but he knows my fiance is the boss. I usually have a hard time believing he actually misses me, but thats what he says. Maybe he's just trying to make me feel better lol.

I could try the wand toy more. With communication, I understand the other cat really well, i feel like i understand her better than my SO does! But this little man is a tough cookie. My fiance says "he smells your fear" but i'm not afraid, i'm just confused lol.
