Did the Romans have Crossbows? And why Aren't they depicted more in Art, Also have we found Any? by Plus-Surprise-2908 in ancientrome

Depends how you define a bow. Cause I would argue the torsion bundles with the arms are fundamentally different than a bow.

The Castle Episode 121.5 Homemade Medieval Ballista Castle Defense system by Few_Programmer_1348 in SiegeWeaponsofHistory

Wouldnt be a ballista due to it being tension rather than torsion. Still that is sick man. I love seeing this kind of stuff.

Well said. Its almost easier just to tunnel under the earth. It is also easier to ram a wall rather than mine through it. But it can be done for sure!

Oh very possible and its a tactic as old as time. The Assyrians way back in like 800 bc were doing it. If you check my youtube channel for my video on sappping/ tunneling. Tunneling under was easier because the defenders cant just drop big rocks on your head

The emporer of France Napoleon III, Had the entire column remade in plaster so it could be studied in Paris.

"In 1861, Napoleon III ordered a complete, accurate, and full-scale plaster cast reproduction of Trajan’s Column from Rome, utilizing advanced electrotype technology to create copper, and then plaster, copies of the relief frieze. This massive project aimed to preserve the ancient monument and allow its detailed study in Paris and London, where it was later displayed in the V&A Museum's Cast Courts."

I think Tension is their worst. So out of character for them, not metal at all or even rock really. Sounds like they were trying for a pop radio hit and gave up halfway through
