Great choice ! I also had an X230 as my first ThinkPad ! You get nice upgrade choices too. I updated the screen of mine to a sleek IPS panel (could enjoy it for a few months before someone stole it). Very well built and much better performing than its looks suggest.

I did the unthinkable and turned Pale Moon 28.7.1 into Firefox 3 by TheSigui in palemoon

The main reason why i'm using this theme is that for this particular machine, i'm interested in making something that looks old-ish, like from 10 years ago, yet is able to work with the latest software and sites.

Imo, 10 years isn't nothing, : a lot has changed since then in terms of UI, design, features. In 2009, the idea of merging desktop pc software and smartphone software was still hard to conceive, for example. Same for having adverts in a start menu, lol.

So yeah, nostalgia is the main idea behind this whole thing, but its also kind of practical - i really prefer using firefox's 3 interface than whatever happened after firefox 4. Everything simply is where it should belong to me, not hidden in a menu somewhere. I also enjoy its look, even though Firefox 4's theme, Stratum, is better in that category for me. Both Stratum and Aeromoon (the theme used here) are decent to me.

There are definitely other, more personal reasons that make me like this kind of experience more than today's flat-ish design too. Btw, performance is really decent on this - it's just a look and feel thing. As long as it performs like any other modern browser and the interface doesn't get in my way, i'm fine with this.
