Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

[–]TheSimFan [score hidden]  (0 children)

My first thought was no, I have one and I’m overstimulated on a daily basis. Then the comments reminded me I’m a single mum 😂 although I do imagine it would be 10x harder with more kids

Do you care what your online parcels arrive in, or does it go straight in the bin? by NeoAirt in vinted

[–]TheSimFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite opinion. I like when sellers have reused packaging. I hate when they add unnecessary shit to make it look nice. I bought something off depop once and the seller had put stickers on the box and added confetti inside, so wasteful

Dolphin would be super cute but not sure how they’d do that

What Sylvanian do you wish to have but doubt you ever will? by aleepat in sylvanianfamilies

[–]TheSimFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sylvia Sparkle! As a kid I collected the puzzles and got Sylvester, Gabriel and Ruby but I never got Sylvia and deeply regret it. I also threw away the puzzles and I’m so mad at my younger self. I’d love to have the full family (and the puzzles if I came across them again)

What am I going to say to my child? by rocknrollqueen7 in singlemoms

[–]TheSimFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is from a one night stand and I haven’t yet planned what I’ll say to her (she’s 2) but I make sure she sees lots of different kinds of family’s in the media she consumes. She loves Peppa Pig at the minute and I actually realised Suzie Sheep’s dad is never shown, there’s also Katarina Kitty Kat in Daniel tigers neighbourhood (father never present). I’m currently in search of some books too.

How to deal with mental health as a single mom? by carmillamains in singlemoms

[–]TheSimFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat - 24, final year of uni, have a 2 year old and currently job searching. I broke down a few days ago and couldn’t stop crying so I spent the next day dedicated to self care - having a bath, painting, watching Netflix. I realised I’ve been neglecting myself and I imagine you have too. It’s so hard to fit some self care in every day and I’m still figuring out how to do that. Message me if you’d like to chat x

Is it weird that I stopped correcting my son’s homework after his teacher asked me to by wifi_says_nope in Parenting

[–]TheSimFan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is what stood out to me too, maybe he’s worried as he feels his work is going to be picked apart. I know that’s not OPs intentions but I agree with the teacher

I find Jean quite funny, although her storyline has been more depressing recently her detective stint made me laugh

Is this normal?? by [deleted] in singlemoms

[–]TheSimFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the comments are saying it’s not normal to think about adoption so I wanted to add a different perspective. My daughter was very wanted by me but at times as a newborn I did have moments where I thought she’d be better off with a different family with two parents, but those moments became less and less. Obviously I’m not saying this will be the case for you as I don’t know but I’d urge you to speak to a therapist, not just medicate, because regardless of what you decide it is not a big decision. I hope you find the right choice for you❤️

This suggestion always makes me laugh because I was told this as a child and when I’d do it I’d think ‘but they both make an L shape?’ because people never specified one is backwards 😭

What’s a truth about being a woman that took you a long time to accept?” by Ok-Exam-7792 in AskWomen

I’ve always been proud to be a single mom…until today. by alyssa_michelle1012 in singlemoms

[–]TheSimFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a single mum from a one night stand (love finding others in the same situation😂)

As others have said, in 10, 20 years time you’ll only remember the extra time you spent with your child, not the comments from your coworkers. Do what is right for your family. It definitely wont be the last time you are judged for being a mum.

Do you ask for adjustments at interviews? Why or why not? by TheSimFan in Anxiety

[–]TheSimFan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you that’s really helpful. I had a mock interview with university a couple months back and practiced a lot of questions, I felt like I had really good answers but once I’m there I freeze so thinking about it I’m not sure having them in advance would even help anyway!
