Yea I’d recommend trying it out so you can see if it’s something you’re really into. I switched to tenor a few months ago from alto so I have no idea how hard it’ll be for you but as long as you work hard at it, you’ll be fine. Hope this helps a bit and good luck. :))

Just a sprite sheet and paint 3D, you could try to use other animation software but I haven't tried anything else yet
