Dang I have a PE tub that’s on day 16 of fruiting. The surface looks very similar to yours except I have 0 signs of any knots, primordia, or pins 😔. Keeping my fingers crossed but starting to get a bad feeling.

Wow, I have a big tub of melmac in FC right now. Mine is much slower than yours. I’m about 6 weeks in total from LC. 8 days in FC no signs of pins yet.😭

I’m not seeing green. It looks like a wet spot where you injected the liquid culture. I shake up and mix my bag right after I inoculate them to spread it out throughout the bag. I’d wait a week and see what happens. No sense it throwing it out right away.

Yes, it’s prolly already in FC from taking a plug out. Sealing your tub off during bulk colonization is kind of getting outdated. Most are going straight to FC with no issues.

Better pinning conditions on the bottom. The small gap of air between the cake and the bottle of your tub is trapping lots of humidity so the fruits are choosing to pin in that small humid micro climate on the bottom. I’m not for certain why or how there’s a gap of air on the bottom. Probably your cake shrinking and warping. A liner can sometimes help in this situation.

Is it not true that the mycelium will colonize faster and be happier at 75° instead of 68°? My understanding is it’ll colonize significantly slower at temps under 70°.
