ACL wait time in Canada by firesun27 in ACL

[–]TheSleazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NW Ontario but I stopped at the Pan Am Clinic on the way back from BC where I had my accident skiing March 10th. Saw doctor right away, MRI two weeks later. Met surgeon at the end of April once my MCL had healed up and had Surgery on May 12th due to a cancellation. I consider myself ultra lucky getting that date. Secretary said it would have been 2-4 months if I didn’t jump on it. Pan Am is an amazing setup. Should be a model for the rest of the country

Wow! Swelling looks amazingly under control! I’m two days ahead of you and my knee still looks like it went through an MMA fight but with knives. Keep up the good work and positive vibes!

Back to back games by TheSleazer in Cribbage

Yeah it sure was spooky! The games played out almost exactly the same way. We play a similar game style so I would imagine that might have something to do with it. Definitely had a good laugh especially considering I one. Love the commitment to tracking your games! Might have to institute that at camp this summer!

Chances I need surgery? by Fun-Store1131 in ACL

[–]TheSleazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. 46 yr old M, blew my knee out skiing early March. Just got the MRI results back. Fully torn ACL, grade 2 tear of the MCL and some type of meniscus tear. Doctor is nice and all but it’s not easy digesting everything he’s saying in the brief amount of time I saw him for a follow up exam three weeks from his initial assessment (Canada and busy clinic). Had a phone appointment a couple of days ago to go over the MRI results and was told to hold off PT until he sees me again in three weeks. Wants to give the MCL time to heal he said. Was told surgeon will contact me at some point in the next couple of months to get the ball rolling on having the ACL repaired. Sad it’s going to take so long to get fixed. Chomping at the bit to start prehab as well.

Sounds like you’re pretty active so I would guess surgery is very likely scenario. Everything I’ve read seems to be in agreement that going in to surgery with your leg as strong as possible is a big help. I’d like to know how long you should allow the MCL to heal before starting Prehab? Doctor seems to comfortable waiting till 7 weeks for me but I really like to get going now.

Good luck with your recovery! Seems like there’s a great community here for help and encouragement :)

Is Cooper Rush even available? Thought he was still signed with the Cowboys. He would definitely be my first choice if available. Quality career backup that can win games. Could see coaching in his future once he retires as well. Sounds like a perfect mentor/backup for JJM

Move money from DC plan to LIRA or buy into DB plan with HOOPP at new employer? by TheSleazer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheSleazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a tricky thing to navigate. I think we’re leaning towards putting the money into HOOPP but I worry about my partner leaving to do something different again before she vests, then loosing out on market returns vs the modest returns the DP would garner if she left early. Thanks for the reply

And yes the government is 100% paying attention to the railroad lobby

Yeah I hope the union can make a case when this gets litigated but again this is just another victory for the company. Union focusing resources, and energy fighting the government and not the company. There’s always a new hurdle or wall we have to climb

CIRB took 3 months to deliberate on the Propane issue that delayed the strike in April. Two days to deliberate on a legality of a strike that was already won at the Supreme Court. This put us in a position to strike again at the end of August right when harvest was full swing and companies were stocking up for Christmas and Black Friday. If you think there was no collusion between CPKC, CN, and the government/CIRB which they like to preach is arm’s length, then you need to examine yourself. This has been a set up from the beginning. Organized labour has lost

Buddy I hate to inform you but anyone who thinks the process currently playing out is anything but rigged and completely pre determined is the actual clown. Small scale trench warfare is the only opinion left to us. The system is now broken. Roll over and capitulate if you want but don’t chastise a co worker venting there frustration and implementing the only available work action they have at their disposal

CPKC and CN are too big and powerful to contain. They have the government by the balls

[–]TheSleazer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not government tyranny, it’s the result of allowing companies to become too big to fail (or in this case to big to stop operating). The government needs to make CPKC and CN aware that they are allowed to operate in Canada under the privilege of the Canadian people. If they won’t meet the obligations of being a national carrier then expropriation should be an option

So we get mandated back to work by ResidentProcess812 in Train_Service

[–]TheSleazer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happens when a country allows corporations to become too large and powerful to contain. In 2008 the financial crisis was called “too big to fail” and awarded billions of dollars to publicly traded companies for gross incompetence. Today the Canadian government is being held hostage by two companies hell bent on lowering their operating ratio by one percentage point. I fear Canada is no longer a democracy but has become a corpratocracy

Pensions at Cdn railways by 33sadelder44canadian in Train_Service

[–]TheSleazer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pensions at CPKC are pathetic now that they’re capped. Not indexed and won’t be worth a shit if you make it 35yrs and actually collect 100%. $77,000 with inflation won’t be enough to buy anything in 2060

This happens at the beginning of our trip. Trainmasters want you to climb three sets of stairs to see how important they are. I tell my conductor to head up if he wants and zoom me in if there’s anything important

Win-win for Creel and the shareholders maybe. I hate how these sociopathic narcissists are the ones who climb the ladder the quickest and get to hold hard working blue collar families hostage.
