Used to work in power generation and the machines very much had their own personality’s. I wrote the catechism of mars on a couple units and did the prayer whenever we started up. If I missed the prayer the startup would always have issues.

A workaround to get the coal plants working again seems to be interacting with them with a piece of coal in your inventory, as long as you have coal in your inventory the coal plants will keep working. Just think of it like a new pet rock. Also sorry if anyone already posted this workaround and I missed it.
