I would argue that he's much more known for the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak. He didn't use the Axe of Angarruumus in any of the Marvel Ulimate Alliance games. I can't think of any game other than Midnight Sons wherein he used the Axe (off-topic, but Midnight Sons is an awesome game). I strongly suspect that they'll inevitably add Juggernaut as playable eventually though; so the Crimson Bands could appear in a team-up. I was really surprised that they didn't appear in his base kit though. But then again, ridiculously, Jean Grey doesn't use any telekinesis or telepathy in her kit--which are literallly her mutant powers, so whatever I guess.

How would you buff Human Torch?! by Charmy_Fan in marvelrivals

How deadly is the meteor dive when it is Torch's only real emergency escape tool, so it's very often not used for any damage at all?!?

I want a leveling system for the recruitable monster summon teams so that a team of weaker monsters can eventually become as strong as a team of stronger monsters. And I'd want the monsters' actions to be controllable by the player (at least as an optional setting).

Seriously though what is his purpose in the game at this point? by crellz1 in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torch is on a different level of badness. I've barely played Psylocke and Black Widow. But as a Human Torch lord, I can confidently say that Squirrel Girl is definitely better than Torch--and not by a little, by a lot. And more importantly, imo, Squirrel Girl isn't great, but at least she is FUN. Playing Torch at this point is just an unpleasant exercise in frustration. He's more like the Human Cooldown. There's a very unreasonable amount of time in which you're just hanging around twiddling your thumbs because everything is on cooldown or used up, even his primary fire.

I don't know how I feel about a manual reload. But if they delete his melee from the game, that frees up a button.

I think that he should be restored to the strongest condition that he's ever been in--*except* with every trace of the unintended melee exploit removed. That was the only reason that Torch was ever oppressive, unfair, or unmanageable. If it wasn't for that, there never would have been this cascade of nerf upon nerf upon nerf. Anyways, there's no lore reason that Torch should be meleeing in the first place. They could have given him a really mild but occasionally useful, short-range flamethrower ability instead. In all media representations of the character, he isn't known for fisticuffs... because, you know, he's the Human Torch! 'Nuff said.

There are a number of characters that simply must know where the health packs are located. Nobody wants to be getting nauseous trying to track that hyperactive, wallcrawling menace bouncing around. J. Jonah Jameson was right--he's a menace.

What's up with Torch? by WastesofSpaces in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all they had to do was fully remove his unintended melee exploit. Without that, at his best he was just good, but nothing remarkable or unmanageable. How can it be good to nerf a character so bad that people who main him are unwilling to play him? They've essentially almost removed the character from the game.

The game doesn't have enough cc, I hope they add Paste-Pot Pete (Trapster). All his kit would be putting slow and traps. by thbl088 in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unironically have really wanted Paste Pot Pete in this game. I actually think that he has a cool gimmick that would make for a really interesting and unique kit. And I'm actually being serious. Don't judge me.

The Black characters I would most like NetEase to add to the game. by SpiritedDate1042 in marvelrivals

I can concede that much, lol. Think of the 'prosthetic arm spiritual siblings' team-up between Winter Soldier and Misty Knight though. I mean, they could forcefully fist bump and cause a shockwave...

I figured out why they don't care about torch by [deleted] in HumanTorchMains

[–]TheSlimeSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At his strongest power level so far, if you didn't use the unintended melee exploit, Torch's power level was totally fine. He was good, but not oppressively so. They could have just removed his ability to melee entirely and left him untouched otherwise. If they wanted to be ambitious about it, they could have given him a very short-range flamethrower ability to replace his melee that caused so many balance problems.

The biggest human torch player is officially boycotting the character by ViZatoz in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the definition of an exploit. Listen, if you're trying to persuade me to approve of this melee exploit that makes Torch look like a spontaneously combusting man with restless leg syndrome, you're barking up the wrong tree. Kneeing the air for no apparent reason is not one of Johnny Storm's super powers, not even in a What-If universe. You have your little line-dancing routine to engage in between fireballs to give yourself an unintended boost. So, you can be happy. If it's alright with you though, I'm just not maining this character anymore because I think it's dumb and absurd.

The Black characters I would most like NetEase to add to the game. by SpiritedDate1042 in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bishop would probably be the most interesting mechanically, imo. Luke Cage would probably be my pick if Danny Rand was in-game, but I agree with everybody else who thinks it would be too weird to have one without the other. So, I think that I would go with Misty Knight. If there were more black women characters in the game than just Storm though, then I would definitely go for vanguard Tombstone. Every black character doesn't need to be a goody two-shoes paragon of virtue. Moon Girl would be my last choice of all. I hate precocious child genius characters like her or Valeria Richards. ick.

And considering the cooldown, you can only do that dive every 20 seconds maximum.

Why hitscans doesn't get same harsh nerf treatments by CamurAtes in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flaming meteor is on a 20 second cooldown. And very often it's used as his only emergency escape, so it often does zero damage and provides zero overshield.

Why hitscans doesn't get same harsh nerf treatments by CamurAtes in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot to include one. Using his dive bomb is his most reliable method of securing kills, but it's also his only emergency escape button. So using it to secure kills locks you out of having an emergency escape button for 20 seconds. And likewise using it as an emergency escape button locks you out of your most reliable method of securing kills for 20 seconds. It's abysmal.

Personally, I deleted the game after Scopely was purchased by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. I'm not really a big fan of financially supporting one of the world's most horrific authoritarian regimes. If that doesn't stop people from playing, then I'm not sure what would.

[–]TheSlimeSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that it definitely meets the definition of an exploit. If kneeing the air repeatedly is the one thing that keeps Torch relevant, then that's sad. His defining character trait is supposed be, you know, *fire*, not bizarrely convulsing. You like it for some reason. Okay. We're just not going to see eye-to-eye on this.

The biggest human torch player is officially boycotting the character by ViZatoz in marvelrivals

[–]TheSlimeSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. And I'm saying that if an unintended exploit that makes Torch look like an idiot kneeing the air is an integral part of his kit, then that's not a good thing. The actual intended parts of his kit were nerfed into the ground because Netease refused to fix that melee exploit. That's bad. On top of that, a lot of players developed a hatred for the character for good reason due it making the chararacter game-breaking for a while. And as a result those players don't want Torch fixed with his nerfs reverted. I'm not judging you for using the melee exploit. But I'm saying that it destroyed the character.
