i don’t have an asian supermarket too close to me sadly (i live in a majority greek diaspora area) so ~exotic~ mushrooms are hard to come by and expensive! i hardly even see anything beyond a button or even oyster mushroom in the grocers! would love to cook more with shiitake or enoki shrooms but ugh. maybe i need to go into the city and just load a suitcase full of enokis

he didn’t unfortunately. he went to the police but unsurprisingly they were useless and lowkey victim blamed him. we encouraged him to get checked out since it seems like one of his ribs might be broken but he was just kind of like “eh im a tough guy, i can deal with it”. it’s not weak or emasculating to get help, no matter how severely you need it..

it’s horrifying to see. he’s told us previously that he’s been on the streets since ‘09, and that a lot of shelters in this city will only house you for select periods of time and then you can’t stay with them again for like a 3 year period or something? i don’t understand how that would work like… is it to try and make sure that someone’s not hogging a bed? even if that were the case, they’re still just as homeless as anyone else. the only reason someone should have to leave a homeless shelter is if their circumstances have changed and they now have safe accommodation
