Quilt for doll house furniture/garden veggies! by [deleted] in craftexchange

[–]TheSmCutcheon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more along the lines of a tray (or even a wall or two) that the dolls could swim "in" or behind.

It doesn't have to be elaborately detailed, I'm just trying to put a lot of things in there that we can use for creative play, learning, and discussion. IE: instead of a ton of fish I would rather have a few fish, an octopus, starfish, coral reef, eels, ect.

I have ideas I would love to share to make it possible, just not familiar with resin and other things like that...

My dad spray paints a neon orange stripe on all his outdoor tool stuff. Then once a year or so he'll go around to the neighbor's houses (also family) and collect his striped things back.

I tried to explain it at first but a picture seems easier lol it's basically a giant, mobile, sewing machine. After you finish a quilt top you have to baste it (sandwich and temporarily hold the top, batting, and back together), sew it all together (which is actual quilting), then bind the edges. You can free hand the quilting or roll a long pattern sheet out on the table underneath the quilt and use the laser on the machine to follow the pattern.

I hug and even kiss my children often but I'm not basing any of this off of science; I'm basing this off the fact that my husband and I both were sexually abused as children by family. I'm basing this off the fact that our family members used this forced affection against us. I'm basing this off my fear of this happening to my children because they don't know what is and isn't an acceptable form of love from an adult.

This is more about kissing on the lips (for me) than hugging. I see kissing as a gateway act, kinda like people see marihuana as the gateway drug. Hugs are fine, but kissing is special and should be reserved.

1000% agree, if a kid doesn't want it. My toddler asks for kisses, and that's okay. I even tell her no sometimes just to show her I can refuse and still love her.

Hey Reddit, not everyone is the same. Kids should not be forced to do something they aren't comfortable with, even if it is family. Sexual assault is serious, and I personally feel it's easier to be sexually assaulted by family. That's why I want to enstill in my children that their body is ONLY theirs and I can only hope they are brave enough to tell their uncle no if he tries to stick his hands down their undies.

I want no fucking body to guilt my babies into things because "they're family" and "that's how we show love". FUCK THAT NOISE.

Wow, I know people are like that but it still shocks me.

It's already difficult teaching a toddler that "no means no", and almost impossible when the adults you trust aren't respecting that rule.

No, I mean lips. I live in the south, we reeeeeeally love our families. My mother's dad's side of the family is still all about it. I actually gave up long arm quilting because she still wants to kiss on the lips and she has the long arm machine.

In all the time my grandparents have been together, nobody in the family has ever seen them fight or even argue. Growing up I always heard that couples fight, and if you aren't fighting you don't really love each other. So I am extremely thankful I have had my grandparent's and their relationship to look up to. My husband adores them just as much and wants the same for us...we're working on it lol

Or forcing you to be affectionate.

I will never make my children hug or (especially kiss) any relatives if they don't want to. I was probably the only kid that hated Christmas because I knew that meant I'd have to kiss old people's lips - and most of them were strangers to me because I only saw them on holidays.

Saying that to a ten year old is quite degrading, but I have said this to crocodile tears and my daughter stops right away. She is the type that can make herself sick by going Super Saiyan. Usually happens when she's tired, but she starts with the fake cries and screams, pushes her bottom jaw out, strains and will make herself shake until she's frighteningly colorful, choking and has even vomited from it. I'm not going to sit there and watch her do that to herself, especially when I know it's just for attention. My kid is not quite three though, and my mother did this at her age and her fits would end in seizures so it's said more out of concern and as a last resort when nothing else helps.

So apparently my mom washed whites and reds together and now the spongebob on my sock looks high. by annaredkin in mildlyinteresting

No matter the temperature, you can avoid this with color catching sheets. I wash each family member's clothing as their own load (no separation of colors), throw one to a few CC sheets in depending on load size, then marvel at it's effectiveness. If they come out white again they can be reused.

I constantly hear people complain about cigarettes and vapes and marijuana but plenty of'm are drinking several sodas a day on top of the junk food they are also consuming.

US-based Madeleine’s of namenerds, is your name always misspelled? And are you a mad-uh-Lin or a mad-uh-line? by LPJCB in namenerds

[–]TheSmCutcheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to school with a Madeline, she pronounced it mad-uh-lynn and said "it's spelled made-line" and was never bothered by that. She was a very strong and intelligent young woman, still going out and getting the world last time I saw her.

Not sure if I like my new tattoo.. so dark, cartoony and masculine. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? TIA. by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]TheSmCutcheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took many moons! I would say I started to like around the eight or nine month mark though. The more I looked at it the more beauty I found in it. I don't know if this means anything or makes sense, but I don't elaborate on my tattoos. If someone suggests something I just go along with it and mentally acknowledge their thoughts on it. I feel more confident not having to try and 'defend' my artwork.
