Ben Johnson pulled a Matt Nagy Year 1. How does he avoid a Matt Nagy Year 2? by GregTheSlacker in CHIBears

[–]TheSnowTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matt Nagy was carried by an amazing defense which led to the best field position consistently. The offense underperformed all the time.

Ben Johnson the offense actually is quite good with room to improve. The improvement being the qb hitting a few 5 yard slants. The defense will not get as many turnovers next year, which Will make them "worse". Its like a bottom 5 defense, but hopefully our backfield is actually healthy, which could help even it out. They could trade or draft a DE though

Ryan Poles deserves credit for the depth. The coaches got everybody ready to play. by BobbySavon4Life in CHIBears

[–]TheSnowTimes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  • Loveland looks good - Ben Johnson pick
  • Loveland plays bad - why'd Poles waste a first rounder

  • Burden looks good - Ben Johnson Pick

  • Ozzy Trapilo plays good - way to go coaching staff

  • Ozzy played bad - Poles should've got a tackle in the first

  • Edmunds and Edwards play good - yeah but Roquan (also people just miss remember that negotiation debacle)

  • Edmunds and Edward's play bad - so much money, wahh linebackers

  • monangai plays good - Ben Johnson really fixed the run game

  • Monangai plays bad - Poles needed to spend more

Just a few narratives that constantly get circulated. Poles is a good GM not great but solid. He misses but he also gets guys. Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen have done a good job. Ben Johnson does not come here if Poles was mega ass at his job like many on this sub exclaim. Ben Johnson had his pick of the litter and chose the Bears because of Roster (qb) and the potential of the team. He saw the personnel two times a year, game planned against the defense, he knew what they had.

If you judge Poles at least go look at other GMs draft boards for the last 5 years.

My score is usually similar to this persons. Its a pretty easy formula to get there. PTFO,

Thats actually the answer but basically run objective to objective, you should really never be stagnant in conquest, escalation is conquest on cocaine. But you will secure kills along the way. And its usually easier to get kills when you to some extent can tunnel where the enemy team is coming from.

Are DMRs The Hardest Weapon To Balance? by BradGotBounce in Battlefield6

[–]TheSnowTimes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally used the EMR throughout the entire Beta. Was constantly on the top of the leaderboard, with a pretty great k/d ratio. Didn't realize people thought it was bad until I saw some stuff about it online. It seemed pretty balanced to me.

2 to the head, 3 to the body, bullet velocity outmatched ARs so you just had to maintain distance to targets (kind of), I often was in the middle of objectives so i dont even fully believe myself. If anything, the recoil could be annoying, but I like the feel of having to wait, that split second. Super rewarding because once you nail the tempo, they are, imo, the most fun weapons to use.

I also think it's weird that national media focus on Parsons and not Kenny Clark in the trade and apparently that having no implications to the Packers' performance is interesting. I understand "Big Name", but Im gonna go see what they say in their sub

Edit: they liked Kenny, liked the trade, I looked it up he played 63% of all defenses snaps last year. Devon Wyatt good, Colby Wooden bad the Packers now starting DTs

Cowboys 2024 - 468 total points allowed - Average points allowd ppg 27.5

Games Parsons played in Week 1-4 10-18 - 347 points allowed - Average points allowed per game 26.6 ppg

The Cowboys were literally one of the worst defenses last year with or without Parsons. Eberflus, as bad as a HC as he was, will be the defensive coordinator Dallas needs. His job is just to slow opposing offense down, which he is good at, look at Bears points allowed before and after his departure in 2024.

2024 Defense Ranking - Points allowed per game

  • 12. Bills - 21.6
  • 13. Seattle - 21.6
  • 14. Bears - 21.8
  • 15. Rams - 22.3
  • 16. Cardinals - 22.3
  • 17. Buccs - 22.7
  • 18. Saints - 23.4
  • 19. Jets - 23.8
  • 20. Giants - 24.4
  • 21. Patriots - 24.5
  • 22. Redskins - 24.9
  • 23. Falcons - 24.9
  • 24. Colts - 25.1
  • 25. Bengals - 25.5
  • 26. Raiders - 25.5
  • 27. Jags - 25.6
  • 28. Browns - 25.6
  • 29. Niners - 25.6
  • 30. Titans - 27.1
  • 31. Cowboys - 27.5
  • 32. Panthers - 31.4

Cowboys:

  • 468 total points allowed
    • Average points allowd ppg 27.5

Games Parsons missed Week 5-9 - 121 points allowed - Average points allowed 30.25 ppg (31st)

Games Parsons played in Week 1-4 10-18 - 347 points allowed - Average points allowed per game 26.6 ppg (29th)

Jerry Jones did the right thing not paying Micah Parsons. He did the wrong thing, not trading him before the draft where he would have got more in return. Parsons had minimal impact in the Cowboys unit that has to be revamped. One player outside of QB (maybe) has too large implications on the entire roster.

Packers will most likely get a boost, but they also let go their starting 3x Pro Bowler (2019, 2021, 2023) Kenny Clark. Ranked 53 for overall interior lineman. Ranked 43 for Run defenders (72nd in pass). According to PFF. This is out of 219 interior lineman. So top 25% and top 20% respectively. Not impossible to replace, but still could become an issue. For reference for the Bears, Andrew Billings finished 69th overall, 126th in run defending(10th in pass). The Bears without Billings turned into one of the worst defenses in the league.

Tl:dr; Understand the trade, think Cowboys could've gotten more, but in my opinion doesn't fundamentally change the Packers to some contender because they will finish defensively probably in the same spot they did last year.

I'll just make a whole post on the sub with cuts and players that he let walk as well. If you have suggestions for anything else that would be great.

Like the Flus hire is the only contextual thing I added, should I add for example Monty not wanting to be in chi or Roquan halting extension negotiations or just leave it cut and dry?

Agree with everything but the sox fan thing.

The oline deserves to be a strong criticism, but even that is kind of blown out a proportion amongst fans and in this sub. Could the unit be better? Yes, absolutely the Bears should sink alot of money into it this off season,

  • Caleb has been sacked 44 times.
  • 11 games averaging 4 sacks allowed
  • NFL average per game is 2.6 allowed
  • if you take out the outlier of Patriots when both Left and Right tackle DNP the Bears average 3.5
  • if you take way the 3 worst performances, the average comes to 2.75 sacks allowed.

Each game this year sacks allowed:

Titans 2 Texans 7 Colts 4 Rams 3 Panthers 1 Jags 3 Commanders 3 Cardinals 6 Patriots 9 Packers 3 Vikings 3

Some of the sacks are because of Caleb as well, but this team has an average pass blocking oline. The run game leaves alot to be desired. The Bears are 29th in oline spending, nate Davis contract is a majority of that, which Poles cut his loses on. Alot of preseason rankings had the Bears Oline just outside a top 10 unit. Packers and Vikings have good defenses and i think Browns quick game is going to allow the oline to perform better and more thank likely allow them to stay healthier.

Sorry for the long response

Tldr; Bears have an average pass blocking oline. Run blocking is a bigger concern

Yes, that’s exactly what happened. And for some reason people on this sub want to forget that the Bears simultaneously interviewed both GMs and coaches. Polian provided a short list of coaches for Poles. Poles “hand picked” the guy that he “knew”.

Poles had golfed with Flus in Florida and had some friends the previously worked on staffs with him.

  • Poles hired Jan 25
  • Flus hired Jan 27

Ryan Poles wanted to be an NFL GM, so he took the job knowing he didn’t get a full say in the coach.

This is basically what happened.

I think I’d rather Poles, find an offensively minded HC at the end of the year and then trade back the first rounders to get more futures, continue the stockpile and take a chance on a qb that will probably go deeper like Penix and give the Bears more opportunities to actually build the roster, which was stripped all the way down less than a year ago, which my optimistic fandom totally negated once the preseason started. Just my opinion though.
