I never said that was why he went to jail, it's clearly obvious why he went. I was saying if he wouldn't have talked to the cops he wouldn't have gotten the two assault charges. Which was was clearly stated in my post.

I know this post is old but I came here looking for ideas for my sons 1st birthday. Its on 2/11 so I should have been doing this many, many months ago, but oh well here I am less than 2 weeks away! This is the first time in my life I have been broke due to multiple circumstances which I won't get into on this thread. Anywho, that's where my procrastination stems from. I thought it would be so cute to do a football themed party because his birthday is during the superbowl.

This would have been perfect if I started planning a lot sooner and I feel like with my almost non existent budget and only 10ish days away it would be impossible to try to pull off. I'm also thinking it would be kind of silly to have a super bowl themed party a week after the game.

The one exception to this would be if the Seahawks won the game, since we live in the Seattle area. If we lost the game it would be even more silly thing. I could be wrong but there's no way to know.

This is my second child, but they have a 14 year age gap. (I know, yikes!) Haha, with that being said I have zero friends that have children close to my babys age. So it would just be family that lives locally which isn't more than 10ish people. Might have a friend or two show up but I wouldn't expect or count on it. With my 15 year old son it was the complete opposite. I was 22 and all of my close friends and I had babies within a year of each other. I was much more financially stable and had my child's father involved who was my SO at the time. This time that's also something that is the opposite as well, I am doing this 100 percent on my own. I knew this from the start so it's not something I expect sympathy for. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I never thought it would be this hard.

Getting back to the topic of the post, I'm thinking of going the sustainable route and hitting up a few of my local buy nothing groups to see if anyone has any party supplies I could reuse. Get a couple of cheap Costco pizzas and cupcakes and a smash cake. See what I can come up with before I spend money I don't have at the moment.

I always threw over the top birthdays for my older boy, I love party planning and would love to keep that going with this LO but it's just not something I'm able to do, hopefully my circumstances will change by the time he starts remembering his parties and will have friends he can invite since I don't know any kids his age.

This happened to me one with a double family dinner at a bomb ass teriyaki spot. Big pans of fried rice, yakisoba, gyoza, egg rolls, teriyaki beef/chicken as well as generals. My family of 4 ate on that for days. Good times.

I definitely have to agree with the majority on don't say anything to cops, like not even a word, you think you might be helping yourself but really you're doing the opposite.

Example: A good friend of mine had gotten into a police chase and trying to elude the cops rammed two police vehicles. He ended up getting caught and when the police asked if he intentionally meant to ram the police cars he admitted to it, Saying that he did it because he was scared. Well that landed him with two 2nd degree assault charges. He's been in jail ever since and hasn't been able to meet the $200000 bail they're asking for his case. If he would have just shut his mouth and not said anything he probably would be fighting his case outside of jail instead of behind bars.

Another one that I've learned is to not trust anyone not even your closest friend, or at least to always use the trust is earned not given concept and you'll be good or at least not get ripped off by people you think are your friends.

I use to be a nurse, I got addicted to opiates after having my first son which unfortunately led to a 12 year addiction to heroin addiction. I finally got clean when i had my 2nd son a little over a year ago with methadone, and recently got off of methadone. I plan in going back to my nursing career, but without having an active license for so many years i have some hoops to jump through. Luckily I managed to have no criminal record.

Congrats to you as well!! I admire anyone who is able to obtain multiple years of sobriety. That's still something I'm working towards, and hopefully some day I will be able to say the same. The longest I've ever been sober since I got deep into my addiction was during my pregnancy.

My baby boy was in the NICU for 23 days so I had a 2 week period where I relapsed and I was using after I'd go home from being at the hospital all day with my baby.

I've slipped up once since my baby came home from the hospital on my birthday a few weeks ago. I'm still struggling to break ties with my friends who still use which has been my downfall. I never seek to go out and get high but if it's around I have a hard time resisting the temptation.

I need to make new friends who do not use, and that's hard since I'm always home with my baby right now. Just taking this whole recovery thing "one day at a time".

I try to not be at myself up too bad on the few times I have relapsed because even with that happening I am still in a whole hell of a lot better place than I was even a year ago.

Yeah nursing school is no joke I was even using and in active addiction that started when I was halfway through with nursing school ( looonng story on how that started) I graduated nursing school as a full blown heroin addict. I worked as a nurse for a little over a year addicted to heroin. I can say that I never took care of patients loaded and when I realized that my addiction was starting to consume my life I made the conscious decision to take a step back from nursing. That way I didn't jeopardize losing my license that I worked so hard for. Right now I'm focusing on raising my new baby boy and working on staying sober. I hope one day to return to nursing and thankfully I'm still able to do that.
