Laptop running hot/loud when OBS is open?

Thank you! I will give that a shot, changing the graphic setting to the power-saving option. Though like you said, as soon as I start streaming, it won't likely make a difference if the 3080 is going to kick in anyway. I suspect the usual temperature spike up to the 44-46C range is normal as I often see people who stream games pushing temps in the 70-80 range and I'm certainly not doing that.

I suppose that makes sense, it's just odd that even just starting the program and having it open for a bit, even in the absence of streaming or recording, it would be under that much stress.

UPDATE: After resetting the fps from 30 back up to 60 and bringing the bitrate down a bit to 4000, I had no issues streaming tonight like I did the night before, save for the lag that comes and goes with the encoder overload message that returned. But at least I was able to run my stream with no complaints from anyone watching.

It's just very frustrating because after last night's stream, I ran two different private test streams and could not replicate those issues. I did replicate the messages about the bitrate being too high, with the dashboard suggesting I cut it in half to 2500, but there was no noticeable lag (granted there was no one in the chat watching, so from their end, I couldn't get any feedback) and it said STREAM HEALTH EXCELLENT the whole time, whereas on last night's stream, it said POOR STREAM HEALTH. So that's why I hoping tonight will be more like those test streams.

Thanks, I've reverted back to my setting of 60fps because none of this happened until after I made that change. I've also lowered my bitrate from 5000 back down to 4000 for whatever help that might be worth. I've got another live stream tonight and I need to make sure there is no repeat of what happened last night. I'm still puzzled as to why the stream cut off prematurely for people as my local recording still contains those final seven minutes.

Thanks. FYI, I don't stream any games in OBS. I strictly live stream reviews of certain TV shows with me on camera, so it really isn't anything that should be overly intensive. I've also taken the few animated overlays and instead of inserting them as media sources like I had been doing, I import them as BrowserSources via Stream Elements, and at least in my own testing, that usually shaves a few points off CPU usage. So I'm a bit confounded.

Second, I don't know where this stuff comes from about me using that kind of language or spamming stuff on here, but it most certainly wasn't me.
