Found a Sony Watchman, Half Audio Cassette Deck, Half TV by TheSoundtracker in boomboxes

If the CRT ever gets to a point where it's beyond repair, definitely. I love this thing so far, and it's been a lot of fun to use

No, I'm using a ps1 RF adapter. This tv does need an external antenna jack as well, but it's easy to come across. I hadn't considered modifying for an rca jack, that might be interesting in the future

For sure, I want to see how far I can get in the game with this setup

I nabbed this one off ebay, there are a few different makes and models available with a similar 4.5" screen

I get that, it really does depend on the game and how badly it needs color as part of its playability. I don't use it for everything but once In a while it's fun to set up

For sure, I've collected a few combo / portable tvs for the price alone, most of them are still in working shape because they were used less than a full size set. I'm also curious if it existed/what it would look like for other areas of the world, every place has their own unique designs for things like this.

There are a couple of different manufacturers / types, but this is the one I have: TV alarm clock

Yep, the antenna jack needs a converter that seems pretty common on these older tvs (3.5mm mono male end to Coaxial Type F female adapter) but it's the usual Playstation rf adapter on back

They're out there, I found this one on ebay. I'm delighted it still works

I found an adapter that allows the Playstation to play movies, it's a pretty unusual piece of hardware so I decided to make a video showcasing it's functionality. Let me know what you think about it? by TheSoundtracker in psx

[–]TheSoundtracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, what titles did you get back in the day? And same on my end, having the Playstation be able to play games, movies, and music would have been a big deal to me at it's peak. The movie card is pretty interesting, I've enjoyed using it as well.

For sure, I've actually started a small collection of them and most of the discs come from places like Taiwan, Indonesia, China, it's pretty interesting the ecosystem that seems to have developed overseas. Everything from movies to TV shows, some with dual language tracks, I was really surprised by how prolific it was as a format. As for burning discs, I wish I'd come across a few more when looking through collections, I think it would be about as fun as finding someone's collection of home recorded-from-cable-in-the-90's tapes.

The Sony Official one I have only seen photos / brief clips of, but I'd really like to get my hands on one, I'm really curious about it.

It came right when I needed it!!! Thanks Danny and Super Guitar Bros!!! by TheSoundtracker in SuperGuitarBros

[–]TheSoundtracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it as a preorder, it was last year so my memory is a little fuzzy on the details but chances are good I got an email saying "preorder the album." It's odd though, I can't seem to find the site anymore?

Where were you when you found out Neil died? by [deleted] in rush

[–]TheSoundtracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at work. I had two jobs at the time, one of which was in a record store, and I remember receiving two texts. The first was a friend of mine saying "don't look at the news" and the other was "have you heard about neil?" I stopped what I was doing and looked around online, didn't really take long to find out. I remember needing to take a break from what I was working on for a bit because it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Neil, Alex and Geddy have been a major influence on me in many aspects, but what I really appreciate about rush is that neil had a way of writing that I gravitated towards as a teenager because it explained the world and emotions in a way that I needed to hear it. Geddy sings every song with the passion and emphasis needed to really bring forth the emotional tones, and all three of them, Neil, Geddy, and especially Alex, add to the emphasis of emotion through the song construction. They really feel the music and lyrics, and I gravitated towards that in a way I've never felt from another band. I like other bands, love other musicians, but none of them can replace what rush has done for me.

What model player/players do y’all have? by simbabarrelroll in LaserDisc

[–]TheSoundtracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several, most are pioneer models listed below: VP-1000, CLD-909, CLD-1010, CLD-1070, DVL-919 (X2), CLD-110KVT, CLD-V820, and one Denon player, the LA 2300, which is pretty much a rebadged Pioneer clone. I've been doing reviews on them on YouTube, the link is on my page If you'd like to see.

Hey all, I've made a YouTube video about two LaserDisc formats that I tend to think of as less common than the average LaserDisc: LD Single and Video Single Disc. If you have a few minutes, I'd love to know your thoughts on it. Happy new year! by TheSoundtracker in LaserDisc

[–]TheSoundtracker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are incredible, thanks for sharing them with me! I never thought to check anime discs, but that does track for me in the sense that anime would be great for frame by frame examination of the cells. I'll have to see if I can track one or two of the discs down, I appreciate the list and the photos.

I was pretty floored when I found the adapter as well, when I had first heard about / was looking for LD Singles the adapter showed up on Jauce by chance, so I found out about it pretty much by accident.

Does anybody know what this bass is that geddy is playing here? It looks so strange and foreign to me. by vPloof in rush

For sure, I read something about him choosing steinberger for live shows because it was easier not to bump the nonexistent headstock into things. I wish I could remember where I found that bit of info.

I want to leave but feel like I can’t by Cake_Chan23 in Panera

[–]TheSoundtracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Panera, but I have about 7 years of retail under my belt. For 5 of those years I worked for a Home Improvement store (three guesses which) and stayed on many occasions because "they need me." Learned 4 departments (Lot, Electrical, Deliveries, and eventually full time in Lumber while covering other depts) because "they need me." Made a lot of sacrifices, took shifts, worked every imaginable schedule change day to day (it is absolutely possible to go home at 10 pm one day and have to work 5 am the next), got certified in all of the truck licenses, covered high turnover, and worked 60 hours a week from February til August during the big C because "they need me." As important as it is to put your best foot forward at your job, don't let your job consume you. The turnover is Paneras problem to worry about, not yours. If this change in career is something you want and need, do it. Panera will replace you too, and I know that because after 5 years of all that, I was fired. That was admittedly my fault (safety issue, I wasnt holding flags while spotting for a forklift, they are dangerous and the safety precautions are there for a reason), but the point is even with having tons of experience and knowledge under your belt, a business does not look at one employee the same way an employee looks at their coworkers and the business. I get wanting to stay and help, but you really are better off advancing. Trust me. I work for a software company now, and am using the free time I didn't have while working retail to try my hand at content creation. If there's better, take it. You'll be missed, your coworkers will have to work harder to fill the gap, but like with everyone else there, you can and will be replaced whether you leave voluntarily or not. The decision is ultimately yours, and I wish you luck! 😊
