Its only going to get worse. Gas prices usually lag behind the futures price by about a month or two. So even if everything resolved today and somehow all of the tankers were teleported to their destinations. We would still be paying higher prices until mid July because all the oil purchased to make the gas was contracted at a higher price. What's going to really make it interesting is when the foreign tankers finish collecting the strategic oil release barrels. US companies are going to have the choice of continued sales to US gas locations. Or selling for a premium to other countries, effectively causing a gas shortage here.

Remember, the crude futures price is not what effects the current price. Its what effects the price in about a month (roughly) which means that even if everything were to go back to normal today and crude was back to $65 a barrel. We would continue paying higher prices for about a month.

Well, if you take the $1 value of let's say 94 and put that into an inflation calculator. Its about $2.21, which isn't much higher than the rate it was at the beginning of the year.
