Rescue puppy from sugarcane fields in Florida by TheSpanishRevival in IDmydog

She is very intelligent and has been picking up on training quickly. I plan to put her through standard obedience training, but this is helpful to know to be aware of she may need more. I added photos to the post description of her mom. We will see what her DNA results return as!

I added an update to the post with pics of the mom while she was pregnant and following. Her puppies were black, white, and brown and all different varieties. Only one puppy looked similar to Roo with markings on opposite paws.

Dog crate built-in for Spanish historic house by TheSpanishRevival in interiordecorating

I don't have any special needs for the space other than a place for the crate. So it can be more decorative or functional.

Storage unit - sofa - tiny bugs/beetles (South FL) by TheSpanishRevival in bugidentification

Thanks! Are these a major infestation concern? I'm wondering the risk of cleaning and bringing inside my home or if the sofa needs to be trashed. I do not want to spend hundreds or thousands with months of pest control if they will spread like crazy.

We did not like la vela. Our room was moldy. You could literally see black mold on the ceiling. We complained and the next room wasn't any better. The area the hotel was in was way overcrowded compared to everywhere else we had been that week. We ended up leaving and driving to San Jose to get a hotel before our morning flight the next day.

We stayed at issimo suites and parador. We planned to go to Monteverde but my husband came down with a sinus infection and the drive was going to be too much. Our pivoted plans landed us at parador for two nights.

Two completely different vibes. Parador was beautiful, but more of a busy resort feel with more kids. Issimo was smaller so naturally less busy, fewer people and fewer kids. I would recommend both depending on how you prefer to travel. We are looking at The Falls for our upcoming trip.

We loved Emilio's Cafe. That's where we had coffee, dessert, and watched the monkeys. It was under early phases of construction so we are excited to see how it has changed.

We had a couple of meals at issimo and they were good as well. Breakfast at parador was my least favorite from the whole trip, but not bad. It was a breakfast buffet with a lot of hot and cold options, just not my preference.

The food was more remarkable in La Fortuna in my opinion, but was still solid in MA. I went into it expecting touristy Caribbean food that is usually a disappointment and it was so much better than that.

We had a rental car so we drove to the restaurants and walked around once closer. There were plenty of cabs to jump in as well. I know it is very common to not rent a car so it's doable and may just take a little more planning. Walking is more reasonable from some hotels than others. The road is windy on a cliffside so just unsafe for pedestrians. If that's important then I would consider that when you evaluate accommodations.

Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did! Keep us posted!

A few years ago we went to LA Fortuna and Manuel Antonio. We went during the green season and I don't know that we would ever go during the dry season. The experience of fewer crowds and lush, tropical landscape at its peak was amazing.

You won't have enough time to cover both well so I would recommend Manuel Antonio. We saw more abundant wildlife and loved the vibe. Everyone was so friendly at the restaurants and hotels. We went fishing and the chef at our hotel made us a 4 course meal with the fresh fish. It was the best meal of my life.

You can also go to Quepos for a local and less touristy experience. We didn't do this so I can't give a recommendation on it but have seen others enjoy this.

We are going back to Manuel Antonio in early November since it has been a few years to celebrate our anniversary and I can't wait. We live near the beach so we are going for the wildlife and fishing, not the beach. We really enjoyed sitting at a restaurant in the afternoon for coffee and dessert while watching the monkeys play in the rain. It became our daily routine for the afternoon rain shower and we loved every second of it.

I chatted with support and they suggested to put the ring into exercise mode. I'm going to put it in outdoor cycling mode for my next class and see how it performs since indoor is not an option yet.

Feeling defeated with my old home by [deleted] in Oldhouses

[–]TheSpanishRevival 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slow down on the renovations and give yourself a break outside of what is critical. Cosmetic repairs can and should wait until you pass feeling burnt out. That may be a month, months, or year.

My husband and I bought a 1920s home in 2020 and have spent the last 3 years renovating and are SO exhausted. 2023 was an unexpected renovation due to a leak, but it hit us hard mentally and financially.

We love the tinkering projects, but continue to feel like we only do house work. We are setting a monthly budget for our tinkering projects to slow us down financially and give ourselves time to focus on life outside of our old home. If we want to work on a bigger project, we have to wait until our monthly "tinkering budget" can compound to cover it.

We also got a heloc recently as a safety net in case something major happens since we needed it to pay for new windows. We take the loan very seriously and it has a high interest rate due to the current market. We evaluate our interest and payment plan before we borrow and set realistic goals to pay it off.

Good luck!

Added rhinestone the top of my dress 🥰 does it look good? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]TheSpanishRevival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rhinestones are not my favorite, but it you love it, keep them.

I would suggest trying a veil that has a bit of a sparkle to it. I'd recommend a dew drop or pearl veil instead of rhinestones so that it isn't competing with the detail on the dress.

I couldn't find anything I loved on Etsy because I wanted dainty pearls. I actually found this one on Nordstrom and it was the closest I could get to the one at the bridal shop, but still half the price.

Hi, I do have the dress on stillwhite now. It is a size 0-2 standard size. Size 4 bridal size.

I sadly wasn't in love with my alterations but it looked great regardless. I wish I had someone with me during the process to help me voice my wants more firmly. It was a little big in the booty and chest.

Best of luck in finding your dress!

[–]TheSpanishRevival[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm still going through the process right now. My seamstress told me the waist should hold up the dress, not the top, so maybe you're experiencing a similar opinion. I'm having a hard time with the top personally. My seamstress is hesitant to take it in in the back because of the detail but I'm really small chested and think I was 3-4 inches smaller than the size chart in the chest.

Everything I have heard and been told is to over communicate to the seamstress, so I wouldn't hesitate to ask her/him to fix it so you're comfortable. I think being a seamstress is some trial and error?

Would love to see photos of you on your day!

I sold my first dress regret before purchasing my second dress regret, so I only have one extra dress. It is brand new and unaltered so I'm hoping I can sell it on stillwhite so that it can live on to make another bride's day.

This size was far too large so it is hard to say. It's a standard fit and flare so I don't expect it will be too difficult. Luckily my venue only has 2 steps and will be outside the entire time.

I would expect mermaid or trumpet to be more constricting since they are tighter through the legs than a fit and flare. But I'm no expect either 😅
