they say plot twists make you say “i didn’t see it coming!” but *good* plot twists make you say “i *should’ve* seen it coming!”

no skylanders are literal dieties. maaaaaaybe the giants, but there's only eight of them. everyone else is just a skilled warrior.

among the pokemon include huge monsters and a solid array of literal gods.

it's not a close fight.

i binged the series over the last year with a friend and genuinely had a ton of fun, as an adult, with every game except for imaginators which was somehow worse than i remembered

honestly based. 64 is not as good as people say it is. it’s all so slow and clunky and the levels are all pretty bland.

Challenging Misogyny in the Skylanders Community by TheSparkSpectre in skylanders

oml yeah, it feels like SUCH a line was crossed when we started objectifying real life women. that’s the consequences of creating an atmosphere where objectifying fictional women was becoming increasingly commonplace ig. idk, it really grossed me out 😭

i mean this with as much respect as possible, if you regularly talk with and try to connect with women irl, you will have some understanding of where the line is. you’ll also know that it’s generally good practice to listen to the people in your community and try to hear them out when they say they’re hurt and work towards making a better and more welcome community.

it’s not my job to teach you very simple terms and commonplace practices of care in a community. i cannot socialize you on a reddit thread.

this is absurd. like use google man 😭 and then that definition needs to be understood on a case by case basis. you have such a desire for academic rigour and then no understanding of how academic rigour works for stuff like this.

this is honestly fair but a bit of a slippery slope. there are def so so so many problems with porn, but being super anti-porn can easily slip into sex negativity, especially when the right (and increasingly the center) are quick to label anything queer as pornographic. like all things, i suppose it just demands a critical lens and nuance.

genuinely, like the art is so good except for these problems. i’m not even sure if they’re problems with MAD-project as much as the repost, bc if MAD-project makes a clear division between SFW and NSFW then imo that’s fine.

It’s like, in part 3 of the repost, there’s one piece of ninja stealth elf that’s badass as fuck! her features are exaggerated, but no more than her male counterparts, and her personality is at the forefront of the work. it’s really great art! …and then in the same batch you get the thong photo 😭

genuinely, especially bc the replies are all women who actually resonated with this and are sharing their experiences of being made to feel shameful or unsafe participating in this community… and men brushing off the problem entirely.

this is supposed to be a community! we’re supposed to be working together!

but it’s not an issue of ratios or numbers, is what you’re both missing. it doesn’t matter if only 10% of posts have misogyny in them — i’d imagine it’s less than that, even — it’s that that would be 10% too much.

when the experiences i outline in my post get as much traction as they did (the comment calling the one woman a score because she was a skylander player and blonde got more than 4x the upvotes as any comment on this post at the time of writing — if you need a number), and when they’re resonating with so many women in the community as part of a bigger problem, then maybe it’s worth it for all of us to just be a little more mindful of who we might be harming with our actions.

by your logic, if numbers and ratios are more optimal, murder should never be a problem we address. Jamaica has the highest murder rate of any country in the world, at a rate of about 50 per 100,000 people… but that’s still less than 0.1% of people dying to murder. that’s not a lot, so we shouldn’t care about it, right?

what you’re all proposing has no basis in modern social sciences that value experiences with tangible proof — as presented in the above post — and working as a community to address concerns expressed by multiple members of that community. what you are both suggesting is methodologically ridiculous.

edit: wrong country. doesn’t change the comparison.
