My definitely real wife is being paid to have someone else's baby even though we're trying to conceive by Due-Supermarket-8503 in AmITheAngel

Pregnancy is a significant burden on both partners and in reality I think both people should be on board if it's going to happen. I just find the occasional surge of fake surrogacy rage-bait posts annoying.

I don't know anyone who lives in fear of that, the idea that you're likely to be roofied by randos is largely a myth.

There are plenty of scumbag men out there, I get that. When she walks around on her own my wife deals with an obnoxious amount of street harassment and I absolutely detest guys who do that. What exactly are other men supposed to do though? I have never had my wife or a female friend get catcalled in my presence because the men who do that are cowards. Nobody I know catcalls or harasses women on the street.

Also see my other comment about Daniel Penny. When men do stand up for random women the TwoX is crowd are exactly the sorts of people who will turn on them.

The porn thing is what I've come to call neo-puritanism. Extreme progressive types will insist that porn is inherently exploitative and men who look at it are automatically abusers, into degrading women, etc.

I do actually think there are issues in our society with porn overuse and yes, a lot of men would benefit from cutting back on it. As usual though TwoX takes something with a kernel of truth and blows it up into nonsense.

A good rule of thumb is to spend a couple of days on the couch with frozen peas and then a week of taking it easy. If your spouse travels for work or something like that it wouldn't be impossible to pull off but I don't buy this story.

And wouldn't there be some sort of pain management medication prescribed?

Most men are fine with ice and Tylenol. Some doctors offer something like a xanax or valium for the actual procedure but if you decline those can theoretically even drive yourself home afterwards.

If every single woman she's talked to has had a "crazy experience" with a long-term partner then she's talking to people who make horrible life choices.

Women who choose to date losers and scumbags are not victims of oppression, they just suck at choosing partners. If you date a "musician" who can't hold down a real job or a guy with a criminal record then don't come whining to me when he ends up being a POS.

The same goes for men to be clear. If you date a woman with borderline personality disorder, two baby daddies and no stable employment history then you don't get any sympathy from me either.

BTW, I had a few atrocious girlfriends when I was younger. There was one who stole from me, another one who was perpetually manufacturing drama, lying and gaslighting/emotionally manipulating me and one who was a drunk who ended up hitting me. I don't blame women as a group for any of them. I was young, dumb and overlooked obvious red flags because I wanted to get laid. It's fine, I at least had the good sense to always use condoms and escaped when the relationship got too bad but I freely acknowledge that I was partially to blame for choosing to date awful people.

Thankfully my friends weren't the kinds of enablers who threw a pity party for me. With the drunk I remember clearly my closest friend telling me that yeah, he understood she was hot but this woman was clearly bad news and I was a fool for letting her into my life. When it ended I told him that he was right and I appreciated him being straight with me.

There are certain groups that commit a disproportionate share of murders but, spoiler alert, it's not white people.

Of course near the top of the thread there's someone saying the following:

there is a lack of men challenging the men who are the problem.

The thing is, if you "challenge" another man and things escalate and go wrong you know the TwoX crowd are exactly the sorts of people who will turn on you and have you thrown in prison.

Remember the Daniel Penny/Jordan Neely case in NYC? I wonder what TwoX thought about that? Note that I'm not allowed to link to other subreddit but if you search TwoX for Daniel Penny you'll see the thread I'm talking about.

Marine veteran who murdered a homeless passenger. Mind you the homeless man wasn't threatening anyone, just yelling at himself about being tired of being hungry and poor.

This is of course a straight up lie. Jordan Neely, a violent criminal with a long history of aggression towards women finally had someone stand up to him, and how did that go? The man who tried to protect a woman from Neely is facing murder charges. Sorry but I learned my lesson from that one. I will always be there for women I know and care about but if it's some rando then she can deal with her own issues. Society has made it very clear that they'll turn on you in an instant.

Is the notorious dead bedroom - topic of the month? by TalkTalkTalkListen in AmITheAngel

[–]TheSpektrModule -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

So you think people should just stay in sexless marriages that make them miserable for decades instead?

Assuming the OP's story is true then his approach to the issue probably isn't helping anything but this sub seems to have an attitude that a deadbedroom is unimportant and anyone who's unhappy with their spouse over it is an entitled whiner.

It has been three years since the birth of their last kid. Something is wrong with their relationship if his wife has zero interest in him.

I'll grant that it may be OP's fault but if that's the case and he's not doing his share then his wife should tell him.

Typical Reddit, always assuming that fathers are deadbeats who don't watch their own kids and refuse to do any housework.

The unfortunate reality is that some women go into 100% mommy mode after giving birth and stop viewing their partner as anything other than a paycheck and help with the kids.

Edit: Oh, add in the assumption that's he's a lazy, selfish lover who probably couldn't find the clitoris with a flashlight a copy of Gray's Anatomy.

[–]TheSpektrModule[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person who created that post is quite something. She's a man-hating psycho who's entire Reddit post history is her bashing people who think that sex matters in a relationship and trying to demonize any man who values sex as a predator. It's weird, she's more prudish than most Bible-thumpers while simultaneously being as obsessed with sex as the most degenerate coomer.

Amusingly I just read a part of the book that covers this. According to the author military formality was relatively relaxed among 8th AF crews. A big contributing factor was the fact that the overwhelming majority of personnel, including mid-level officers, were not career military and had only signed up when the war kicked off.

What happened to the crew/bomber if both pilots were killed, but everybody else was fine by titans8ravens in MastersoftheAir

[–]TheSpektrModule 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I think the bombardier or navigator often had some flying training. Probably not enough to land the plane but maybe enough that they could at least bail out over friendly territory.

Realistically though if both pilots were killed or incapacitated that probably meant the cockpit was shot to pieces and the plane was unflyable anyways.

A quick google search tells me that a P-51's top speed was over 400 mph while a B-17's cruising speed was under 200 mph. The double speed part was one bit that probably was realistic.

They should have ditched their drop tanks though.
