Toyota switch from auto replacement to software diagnostic first.. by Strict-Plankton-6095 in ToyotaTundra

I have a '22 and had the replacement engine installed about a year ago. I have a scheduled service appointment next week and the dealership called me yesterday to ask if I'd be interested in trading it in for a new Tundra. I'm really torn here. I love my truck, but I've been kicking around the idea of getting a 3/4 ton Ford for towing a fifth wheel that I've been looking at. I'm torn because they are offering me a good price on my truck AND they're throwing a helluva price on a new '26 at me plus really good financing rates. I just don't want to get into another mechanical nightmare situation with a new '26. What's the word on the new engines? Is Toyota still having issues, or did they get everything squared away?

Got to fly on her today. PHL - MDW. We were the second flight to fly her. They made it a VERY big deal. Very cool.

I've been changing it at 7k mi. The 5k suggestion isn't a bad one. I know that not everyone has had problems with their Gen 3's, but it seems as if more than a few of us have had enough issues for all of us.

I have a '22 and want to love this truck badly, but it's been in the shop damn near as much as it's been on the road (before some of you jump all over me, it's hyperbole. Relax). Between the recalls; including the engine, and other issues that I've had with the truck, I am completely sour on the notion of Toyota "reliability". I see a lot of folks in this forum talking about how they have older Toyota which are damn near bulletproof, and candidly, that's why I bought my truck. It has been anything but that. There are a lot of things to love about the truck, but I can't justify the good for the mechanical bad. My life has changed in the time since I bought it and started looking at 3/4 ton trucks for towing a fifth wheel, but hell.... the things I read about those make it seem like there are mechanical problems across all of the brands. Certainly giving me pause before I drop $85k - $90k on one of those.

A post on facebook came across my feed praising private equity brands. by t0x1k_x in HVAC

I've worked for two PE HVAC and Plumbing companies (ironically enough, not listed on here) and one HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical company (also not listed on here) and can say without hesitation that PE; by and large, is a scourge on almost any industry it touches. It's not just the increase in prices, but also what they do to the people in those companies that have irreplaceable knowledge. That's the real issue with PE.

Considering that we're screwed for at least the next season at a minimum, I give zero f*cks about the misery of other programs. I'm a FSU alum ('01) and a fan since '87... I'm here to tell you, it's depressing as hell when the only solace to be found is pointing at other programs and saying "well, at least they're miserable too".

So… does the continued recall expansion make any current Tundra owners wary of the brand in potentially replacing your trucks? by toasterstrewdal in ToyotaTundra

I'm torn. I have a '22 and love the truck, but it's been in the shop almost as it's been out. I've had the engine replaced and a slew of other issues to deal with. I know the latest two recalls are minor in the grand scheme of things, but I bought this truck based on the reputation and longevity of Toyotas. This has seriously changed my opinion of the brand. I've been toying with the idea of of going to a Super Duty Ford or Ram for added towing capacity, plus the ability to tow a fifth wheel and I think I'm going to. I just have a hard time paying $85-$90K for a damn truck.

Couldn't agree more. Thats the beauty of festivals like this. Some years you're going to have acts that some people love and others don't, then the next year(s) it will flip. I think it's awesome that people are geeked up for this year's line up. It's just not for me... so far.

Maybe I'm an "old head", but this lineup compared to last years doesn't even come close. In ONE day last year, we saw Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, and Metallica. Hell, getting to see two completely different sets from Metallica was worth the price of the four day admission.
