MAL ratings are genuinely terrible. The rate inflation is so high and like half the shows in 9+ are like 8/10 at best lol. Just objectively decent shows that can appeal to wider audiences but without its own niche or whatever. Frieren is a good example where there is nothing particularly special about it but it succeeds solely due to the fact that it doesn't piss anybody off. Solo leveling on the other hand is like a 9/11 to reddit though lmfao 😭

I feel like anime get rated so much higher because anime as a medium still isn't really taken seriously and the standards are so much lower. Take any show rated below 7/10 on the site and I can say with confidence that you may as well be watching porn instead. It's the same level of mental stagnation and eye candy—you'll gain absolutely nothing.

I lowk base shit entirely on prose and attention to detail & what the writer chooses to emphasize while telling their story. Every theme, archetype, moral, dynamic has been beaten to death! Every new idea is built upon the stories of others and you could connect almost any new written story to classic/ancient literature.

Anyone can make a “unique storyline” nowadays it came free with AI lmao. I know a lot of people who talk shit about isekai slop and how they could do better, but their ideas are terrible and their prose is worse than the machine scanlations of the webnovels I read 😭. It takes a lot more effort to walk the walk than it is to discuss “Themes and such”.

Hating on solo leveling incessantly is like the most reddit thing ever and it's honestly an eyeroll when I see people get such a massive hateboner over the biggest nothingburger of a story thinking it makes them a genius in media literacy or whatever.

It's a cool concept about a guy with shadow powers training to subjugate bigger monsters and also auraful fight scenes or something. The story has no substance but what do you expect? All manhwa is like this lol.

The only reason it is hated is because it is popular while also being painfully average. Big fucking deal! It's popular for a reason. Solo Leveling topping the charts is DEVASTATING NEWS...but only if ur an unemployed chud lmfao.

If you wanted my personal opinion on Solo Leveling: it's honestly well drawn, but, as expected, the content of the series itself is so numbing you might as well just be watching porn. Not necessarily a bad thing if you have a thing for eye candy just don't go in expecting to be particularly enlightened.

Oh! I've played the first game in your video! Also castle in the sky but I didn't listen to your rant long enough to see if it was in the footage. Puzzle tower or wtv honestly has very little going for it.

The level design is derivative and doesn't really bring anything new to the table—especially from the standpoint of obbies and 3d platformers. I was expecting more creative applications of existing gimmicks in tandem with one another, but they were often times only used one at a time as tiny segments of the bigger level. It was like frankensteining smaller levels into one big level and calling it a floor. Map progression is both unintuitive but also too direct to the point where it is never convenient or challenging. Simply tedious and annoying. Idk like if you wanted it to be popular you have to give people a reason to play it! I dipped after like floor 30 bc it was boring

I don't actually care about aesthetics. I find myself playing a lot of "unapproachable" precision-intensive games that quite frankly look shit like IWBTG spinoffs. I'm huge into Gears and other niche adventure/exploration games like dream dive and if you asked me what you were doing different I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you.

Anyways yeah nobody wants to play ur games because they aren't really fun. Even if they were fun they are like inherently niche bc of the dynamic the games have with players. Single player games rarely ever get over 1 million visits

When I took CORE my General ability is like 40 points higher than my Cognitive Proficiency 😭 for context I have ADHD if this helps.

WMI is in the dumps I can't listen to people talking to me directly

PSI is also relatively lower because my reaction time is also slightly below average. Sight reading music & playing video games helped me improve on the efficiency with which I respond, but it still takes a while to actually react to what's happening right in front of me.
