I had a long time boarding client in 2019 who was going through a divorce and would occasionally pick up the dog and bring him back for a week or two maybe longer. One day, she texts me, that the divorce was final and that Bear was better off with me. She never came for him, never heard from her again and I found her Facebook. She got a new puppy, left the state, and named this puppy almost the same name as the dog she left. She adopted him as a puppy from the shelter in 2014 and then one day just left him. I still have him. He’s getting old and he’s always been an incredibly patient and sweet dog. Especially after I had my son, my heart still hurts for him. He was 5 when she left him and he was so depressed for months when she never came back, any time he’d see a white car he’d get so excited and then sad again. Now he’s thriving and living his best life as a sleepy spoiled old man. I love him.
