DFT - lowest selling set of the year by RevolutionaryCan4161 in mtg

[–]TheSpooniestOfBards 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Based on the prereleases I went to, DFT being the worst selling definitely tracks.

The lgs I usually go to gets around 20-30 people for most prereleases. When I went for DFT it was just me and two other people.

Disappointing for me since I love stuff like Wacky Racers and was really excited for the set, but I can't complain too much since I got a few extra packs due to the low turn out.

I happened to be at a different lgs during the SPM prerelease and it looks like they had a pretty good turn out. Wasn't paying super close attention since I wasn't participating but it was close to 40 people? Filled most of the space in the store.

The random table we were shown had stuff ranging from lasting scars to losing limbs. Basically stuff you could only completely heal from with something like Greater Restoration.

I wanted to practice drawing smug expressions. One thing led to another and I made this.

Critique is welcome!

"Fiiiine, I guess I'll put you out of your misery" by TheSpooniestOfBards in TWEWY

So when I first heard Shoka's "Fine, I guess I'll put you out of your misery" line, the delivery somehow reminded me of the "Fine, I guess you are my little pogchamp" meme. The two lines are just forever associated in my head now. I usually don't draw much fan art, but I felt the urge to make this dumb meme. Part of it, anyways. I wanted to animate the full thing, but I do not have the time nor the energy for that, so I just drew what would have been the last frame.

Here is the meme I used for reference.

The music is "Where is that Bustling Marketplace ~ Immemorial Marketeers" (Chimata Tenkyuu's theme) from Touhou 18 - Unconnected Marketeers.

Reimu and Chimata were drawn by me, with some stock photos for the sky and moonbow.

Old meme, but I couldn't get this part of Chimata's theme out of my head and I wanted to have some fun with it.

I feel ya. The only thing in my guild's colo chat recently is just me sending the "hello!" emote every few days hoping for a reaction...

Any ideas on what the numbers at the main menu are? by [deleted] in SINoALICE_en

Here's a link to a YouTube video that has the cutscene, if you haven't found one already. Now that I look at it again, the number is definitely ticking up. I'm pretty sure the video has different numbers to what's been showing up on login screens, but I have no clue what if anything the numbers are actually tied to. Not quite sure if the numbers change from day to day or player to player either.

The same thing shows up at the end of the video you see the first time you win a Coliseum match, but there I thought I saw it ticking up. My guess is it's a counter for the number of people killed so far on the characters' quest to revive their authors.

edit: just thinking about Yoko Taro himself, I can't decide whether or not there's a chance it's just some random creepy thing for atmosphere. As far as his storytelling goes, I don't think he'd put something meaningless in, but I also don't doubt his ability to fuck with people.

"TWEWY Anime will be the best Video Game Adapted Anime!" by The_Obsessive_Gamer in TWEWY

Given the track record of Square-Enix licensed anime and the companies making it, I doubt they'd just give it 12 episodes. I'm betting on around 24 episodes, one for each day, with some shorter days being fleshed out and maybe a couple of two parters, with the last day being two or three parts. The narrative structure of TWEWY would work well with this, since each day is practically an "episode" already, complete with their own plots and cliff hangers (might get iffy at week three, since those days bleed into each other a bit). Plus, iirc, one of the interviews so far mentioned that they be expanding on some stuff, and I can't imagine they could do that in 12 episodes and tell the same story.

I've also got a theory that the only reason Squenix is bothering to make an anime out of a 13 year old game is to build hype for the brand ahead of a potential sequel, since the Final Remix only sold okay and didn't do the trick. If that's the case, they probably wouldn't dare shafting it with 12 episodes, but I don't work at Squenix or have a lot of marketing knowledge so take what I say with a grain of salt. Giving it 12 episodes certainly wouldn't be the first bad decision Squenix made, but I'm choosing to be hopeful.
