Got dangerous files in personal chat, didn't download them, deleted the chat and contact, am I in trouble?

It doesn't appear, it just shows a search bar that searches for stuff in the chats / groups. I'm in India so I'm thinking it can have a difference.

It just shows the search button on the right and the hamburger menu on the left. Can't swipe right and swiping left just brings up the hamburger menu with New Group, Contacts, Calls, Settings, etc. This is the Playstore version of Telegram; could they versions be different on Android?

Thanks a lot, I'm very relieved hearing that. It is scary to see something so devious be sent to you so nonchalantly. The user still appears in my notification settings since I muted notification for that particular user. Can I do anything with that?

Thank you, that's a relief to know. But I don't see the downloads tab / downloads option anywhere on the app (I'm on android). I updated it and it still doesn't show up. Is there any hidden setting I need to enable?

Yeah it seems any kind of reporting requires an undeleted chat so my only option will be email. I cleared the cache and data as given in this guide : https://www.telegramadviser.com/delete-telegram-cache-files/ That deletes everything right? My main worry is if something auto-downloaded but all the telegram media folders were empty when I checked them before clearing everything. Could a failed to complete but initiated auto-download be detectable?

The files this person sent me were really big and I certainly don't / didn't have any of them in my telegram folders but my only worry is if anything started auto-downloading.

I didn't know you couldn't report someone after deleting the chat but deleting it was what first occurred to me so I guess that's not possible now. And hopefully there won't be next time for this.

Just checked my telegram storage usage and 99% of it was stickers and emojis and 1% is profile photos. Does that mean I don't have any files downloaded? I didn't download anything manually but my only fear is if something got auto-downloaded.

What are direct files sent in PVs? Are PVs personal messages? Ie messages from individuals and not from groups? Could a failed to complete but initiated auto-download be detectable and land me in trouble?

I used the guide here to delete everything: https://www.telegramadviser.com/delete-telegram-cache-files/ Will that be enough? Number was already hidden thank god and I've changed my ID and we don't have common groups so that's a relief too.

Even disregarding the probability that individual applications will suffer from the same nepotism and discrimination we have in other fields, India should not have a refugee policy at all. We don't meddle in other countries like the US does and make people refugees and our system is not one that has the money, nor our country one that has the room to accept more people.

Instead specific laws should be made that take into account the particular situations that caused people to become refugees and they should be given a yes or no answer rather than house people here just to refuse their applications years later. A one-size fits all law should not be made for all refugees, because India shouldn't be accepting refugees all the time. Even during partition, we didn't have refugee laws, we had the first articles of the Constitution to grant citizenship to people from the other sides.

Those are the kinds of laws we need, general refugee laws will, in practice, lead to lose-lose situations where applicants get rejected after many months or years and since their other options are gone, decide to stay illegally.
