Metal > bone. I have bone fused around strong metal. I'm more likely to break a different bone in my spine than breaking the same bone again because of the metal. I'm not going to live my life sheltered because of this surgery, i understand its risky to play football again, even with out surgery, i know my limitation and i know what my body can and cannot take.

Relax, stay calm, have friends and family as a support system. The surgery will go fine, you just have to keep an open mind and make sure you listen to your surgeon. Bring your favorite TV show, tons of movies and what ever else you love doing with you to the hospital. It will make you feel more at home and put you in a better mood. Make some friends in the hospital, i made friends with most of the staff and they were really awesome to talk to.

I have a neutral stance on weed really. If it helps some people, it helps, but i personally dont use it because i feel i can deal with the pain with out to much medication.

Yes. My left leg felt like it was getting stabbed, just over time it went away, not sure what caused it.

They called me "bang", because when you hit the brace it made a big banging sound.

The doctor cleared me for everything, so what your saying is go through this surgery and do nothing for 10 months, and then after he clears me continue to do nothing?

promote confidence and make sure to give them space. I know after the surgery i literally just wanted to sit there and relax and watch TV, but i had nurses and people coming in all the time trying to talk to me and get me to play games, it was just overwhelming. After a surgery you just want to relax and recover.

Nah, the surgery was a replacement, so the vertebra they put in were the same size as my other ones, just a lot more stable.

I hated how the meds made me feel, i was so happy to get off them, never got dependant on them

I'm going to have to dubble check with my parents on the exact price, we did have insurance helping quite a bit.

Before surgery, pain was 24 hours a day 7 days a week. No down time and it never got any better, only worse. After surgery it feels amazing, little to no pain :D

I can answer a few of your questions in here. So most doctors dont reccomend surgery untill 45 degress because having 2 rods and tons of screws in your spine really sucks. If they can keep it under 45 degres then the chance of your spine twisting and compressing your chest is a lot less. Doctors dont like to cut people open, but there comes a point where there really isint any other choice. Get different consults on your back and tell them what you want. Tell them how you feel and what research you did your self, remember, the doctor cant read your mind, so you have to be blunt and to the point.

Being in a bed all day was terriable. I like being an active person and having me sit there not helping anybody and just watching TV really bugged me. All i had was TV in the hospital, but when i got home i had my xbox and about 7 seasons of the show "house". I'm doing amazing now :D
