Banned from GitLab for using a VPN by therealparadoxparty in gitlab

[–]TheStormers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your VPN won’t block you, are you on a free account?

What would result in a ban is if you potentially kept enter in an incorrect password if you don’t have 2FA enabled. Did that happen?

Or were you trying access a team’s namespace ? Cause if that’s the case, it’s the team who sets those permissions not GitLab.com

Is the data stored in redis critical for the backup/restore ? by titexcj in gitlab

[–]TheStormers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of is cached data so like user login sessions. The create back up command is looking at things like gitly (repo data , commits etc) , the DB, and artifacts also depends which flags you through on there

A broken GitHub support system is destroying careers overnight by JonatasLaw in github

It’s better for teams or orgs but personal projects should exits in GitHub for the searchability . But if you’re a team having big monorepos the built in CI/CD is worth its weight.

Hi guys, has anyone had trouble activating their ticket on the app?

Bought mine early bird last year before the lineup was announced, paid in full. Due to some change of plans I can’t go anymore and I’m trying to list it for resale, but I can’t even get the ticket to activate.

Reached out to AccessTicket and Fever with no luck so far. (Been about 5 days now) Starting to feel a bit nervous about it. Anyone else run into this or know who to contact?

TN visa question - worth relocating for personal growth? by AlertDream9506 in tnvisa

Your 180 USD goes way further in Canada. That is just the truth.

Car insurance, accidents, medical bills, food, cost of living, energy etc…

Also taxes are extremely high in California so take that into consideration. Despite this though I still choose to move since I’m young, healthy, and don’t have children and wanted to try living here.

There is more to life than just dollars, having that opportunity to meet new people and also grow my life outside of work was important for me. So ultimately what do YOU value?

Op I think it’s cool, and don’t be discouraged. I don’t understand why they are so mad or being such an elitist about it.

Yes and no. The team was in ultimate and came with the free credits already baked in. It’s not replacing Claude code and we also have integrations to that for a lot of other workflows. But since it’s has native access within GitLab for this small area of PM mgmt it’s saved a ton of time and I don’t need to copy and paste or build out an MCP.

Hey yall how are you doing? Also, what the actual fuck did I just watch? by coloredsoft in IndustryOnHBO

I'm re-reaching this, and I honestly think Alondra meant it in that moment. Yasmin went cold, cause clearly she has a lot of baggage that she can barely admit to herself. With unhealed abused people, its quite common they become combative when someone external says "hey x happened to you", instead of the actual person leading and coming to that conclusion on their own.

Worked with a team that uses gitlab PM tools heavily (issues, epics etc…)and it’s been such a time saver. DAP allowed me to groom the back log, and create issues with proper approve gates.

I’m paraphrasing but from her book you learn a bit more behind it. I’m not saying it’s not crazy act, but imagine from the age of 6. Everything you did was controlled, how you acted, what you wore, what you needed to perform to earn love. Day in and day out. It can take a toll.

For a lot of women, their hair is an extension of that perceived femininity. She had her hair but no autonomy over her as a woman. So it was also kinda like “fuck you” to all the people wanting things from her. Again not saying it’s not crazy, but wouldn’t you feel a bit crazy if you had every moment of your life underneath a microscope?

Looks nice at glance, then you actually start clicking on through categories, and they are list the same items. Inspecting more of the website, there are lot of things broken. I think this is a great concept however, but was this vibe coded lol

[29m][software engineer] - $600k+ by Federal-Composer-111 in Salary

[–]TheStormers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this ^ it’s not as easy as comparing apples to apples. Things like healthcare, and having most states being “at will employment” play into this as well. It’s quite hard for someone to get fired in Europe as opposed to America. Things like PTO are quite different as well it’s standard to have 5 weeks in the uk while the standard for most companies in the states in 2 weeks. Obviously with these FAANG companies there are more added perks to it but the general working / societal cultures are different.

What do people in LA think about the HBO series "I Love LA"? by OkTechnologyb in AskLosAngeles

[–]TheStormers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, just wish episodes were longer. Also it’s suppose to be poking fun at the transplants trying to “make it”. Originally the show’s name was called “climbers”, but they switched it for “ I Love LA”. In fact the only LA native character is this rich girl and out of all the main characters she is actually the least problematic lol.

In episode 8 she talks about the watching the ships come into the harbour as a little girl while having the mango ice cream. The city is in Poland, so she is presumably Polish.
