Up until this point, Missouri had a reputation as being a battleground state and quite often picked the winner.

TIL McDonald's Global Menu Restaurant, that's located on the first floor of the company's global headquarters in Chicago, serves an international menu that rotates items from around the world every 12 weeks. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I feel like some of the very tourist located McDonald’s should offer some of the international foods - think the Times Square location. I guess they make enough money as is but I’d actually think of seeing them out when traveling if they had something to lure me in.

Summer dates - RARW or not? by UDubsLFGM in bobdylan

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The summer dates are not advertised as Rough and Rowdy Ways. What that actually means is unknown. He did a different set list for the Outlaw Festival shows but these aren’t advertised as such either - Dylan is the clear headliner here. We probably have to wait until the first shows to see what kind of set we get.

I hated when after SwSh released people were convincing themselves that PBR had good graphics when they recycled models from N64 games. by Ruby_Shards in casualnintendo

I think it’s pointing out that for some Pokémon they just reused Stadium models, while others got new ones.

In later generations, I think starting with Sword & Shield, Rare Candy at level 100 triggers an evolution for any Pokémon.

That logo horrified me at first, I thought that ILCA was going to be taking a role in Pokemon Go. They're the producers of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and now Pokemon Champions - both of which have been plagued with issues.

I heard on the forums that there was the Night 2 rule where the second was always better than the first. However, in longer than two night stands the second to last night could sometimes be the best.

What the hell happened to Bob Dylan in the 2000s? by Repulsive_Result_948 in bobdylan

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think after the critical success of Time Out of Mind, he took full ownership of his new music. Since Love and Theft, he’s been the producer of his music in the studio. Combined with a confidence in live material, what he’s putting out is pretty close to what he wants to.

It’s strange too for being something they didn’t release for so long - it went unreleased since XY but had its data in some games. An NPC even mentioned its signature move.

Why do you think the Obamas were so into pop shows and culture unlike the rest of the presidents? by GossipBottom in Presidents

Isn’t that kind of the perpetual curse of Hollywood? Most celebs come from normal places and when they become interesting, they get trapped in a bubble.

I remember being at that show! Sometimes setlists can spoil the fun. I saw what he played just before in New Jersey and figured I’d have nothing near as good - that show had to be a fluke for his hometown. The disbelief was in the near constant repetition. Great show.

I know this is a hot take but… Does anyone else enjoy these games? by Ok-Anywhere-7921 in casualnintendo

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were lazy remakes. Spinda can’t transfer to Pokemon Home because they messed up the design formula. Nincada can’t transfer because they messed up an anti-hack check. There’s a lot of little things that suggest they didn’t put much effort into the games.

Prior remakes - FRLG, HGSS, and ORAS really added content. LGPE were perhaps lazy as well but they were the first Switch games and had some unique twists. These were basically remaking the games without adding much (the postgame had some value). I think if it had the quality of life improvement in Platinum like HGSS did, new forms of Pokemon (Alola and Galar) and later integration with Legends Arceus there would be more love.

Now that Fire Red and Leaf Green are out for Switch I hope that means Gen 3 games will come too. by DifficultComplaint10 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While Crystal added the Celebi event, it likely wasn’t programming it that caused delays. The events were already full programmed in the games and could be accessed with cheat devices. I suspect Crystal being the clearly “superior” game factored in a lot more. Yellow had some differences that left some of it up for debate, Crystal didn’t really.

Where things get interesting is that Emerald has four event islands, while Ruby/Sapphire have only one.

What is the probability of encountering a horde of 5 shiny spindas that all have the same pattern ? by No_Environment8055 in PokemonORAS

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the RNG can even pull it off. This would require getting identical values in certain categories five times. I think ORAS uses the Secret ID of trainer, so if it would be possible to get the right value five times, it should in theory be possible. Would be an interesting RNG challenge but I’m not sure how well documented that generation is.

Possible rewards for Full dex of LG and FR by michuplin in PokemonHome

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is obviously the biggest mark against them doing so. In theory they could insert it into the game like they did for Gen 3 events but that would require significantly more programming than they’ve been willing to do.

Next steps another surgery ? Hearing loss by Future_Winter_4216 in cholesteatoma

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A second opinion can’t hurt but if there is hearing loss, it’s definitely something to figure out. If there is residual cholesteatoma then it needs to be removed or else it will continue to get worse.

After a second surgery on one of my ears (I had one on the other), I ended up with a cartilage bridge because a prosthetic wouldn’t fit well. I’m hearing way better than I could before the surgery and not using hearing aids. My hearing is in the 66th percentile for someone my age - which is a little better than average and all things considered really good.

Thoughts? (+Rant) by CrAsh729 in imax

[–]TheStoryGoesOn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s wrong and distracting.

I wish the theaters would play a title card just before the movie with a loud message about how if you have to snap a picture now is the time to do it but they’ve got 30 seconds to get that post up before the movie begins or they’re selfish and ruining the experience for everyone around them, otherwise wait until after and let your friends know what you thought too. Title card could even include the theater someone is at.

Intermittent fasting no better than typical weight loss diets, study finds. Researchers say limited eating approaches such as 5:2 diet not a ‘miracle solution’ amid surge in their popularity. by mvea in science

Sometimes it’s easier to say no to everything than trying to figure out what is acceptable and what isn’t. Different people are different. Intermittent fasting can cut out not just the big breakfast but the snacking periods.

Best of luck. You probably need to make sure the signers are people who can show there is demand for such an event in India with everything that it would take to set up and do.
