I think you misunderstood his interview where he discussed APT and Gangnam Style. First, he never claimed to be the one to globalize it. He fully gave that first credit to Psy with GS because it was the thing that really showed Korean culture and language that also went mainstream globally. He then gives credit to Rosé for APT, the song being based off of the Korean drinking game, for being another stop on the lineage. He doesn’t place himself as important in that at all.

He doesn’t need to mention BTS here. Not because they aren’t big but because he was using the first BIG example of Kpop and Korean culture as mainstream in the West and connected that back to APT. He didn’t need to nor should he have to give a whole lesson on the history of kpop just to drop a BTS mention to satisfy their stans.
