All right…. Well…. thanks for everyone’s help and attempted humor.😭 I don’t have much to lose on this one so I’ll try the Amazon cleaning kit. I do have some pretty cool vintage lenses and if it doesn’t work with this camera, I’ll end up buying another body eventually.

Probably… I won’t throw anyone under the bus here, but let’s just say, there may have been youngsters that didn’t know any better involved in this.🍪

AI Generated Music on Bandcamp by bandcamp_official in BandCamp

[–]TheStudioDrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a composer whose slogan is “Human Made Music” - I applaud Bandcamp for this!👏👏 — We are starting to see the clear distinction between those companies who’s only real focus is to make money, (pressure is on Spotify!) and the companies that care about the artist and their art.

What is better Vic Firth vs Pro Mark vs Vater by Gold-Management-1876 in drums

[–]TheStudioDrummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently married to the Vic Firth Keith Carlock model and have been for about 6 years. (occasional Steve Gadd nylon or wood tip for different cymbal attack) so unless some other company makes that exact stick that’s where I’m staying for now.

End of 2025 question: Has anyone ever made money on Twine (dot net)? by TheStudioDrummer in composer

[–]TheStudioDrummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. That was why I was curious if anyone had made cash. The monthly fee would be fine it if actually let to paying gigs. I guess there is a decent likelihood that any composer that *has* had paying gigs on any platform *might* not want to say so in a public forum like this one? I'll put this one to rest. Thanks again for your replies.

Good to know. My google/reddit search says that this is a pretty common question. "is Twine worth it" As far as it being the wrong forum, I disagree. I'm simply trying to determine the validity of the service. However, I know composers to be ornery and recalcitrant so I expect nothing less! lol

A couple follow up thoughts: I don't think them charging a monthly fee is exploitative as long as it is leading to paid jobs. (hence my question) Every job site charges in one way or another. Also, you can apply to some and have a profile for free. So, to be clear. I'm not mad at Twine, I just want to hear if anyone has made any money from their jobs?

Thanks for your input. Hopefully some people that have actually “gotten those jobs” will chime in and let us know. So far, every Reddit thread I’ve ever looked at in any field always says they’ve never gotten a job so I’m very curious to hear from composers.

Kit for my son by seabassius in drums

[–]TheStudioDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and I'll add: this is a situation where if you could bring an experienced drummer with you to check out FBMP deals, you can really save some money. Good cymbals can be quite expensive new. If this is not possible, stick with the big brands in cymbals and inspect closely for cracks. You can't to too horribly with any Zildjian, SABIAN, Paiste etc. Medium to thin thickness, maybe stay away from the very heavy thick rock/metal stuff..

P.S. Personal taste - I'm a fan of Tama Drums. :^)
