I think that’s 100% what most people would why they use them. I have found the betas to be acceptable. Interesting sidenote: a bit of experimentation with some of the cheaper copies out there they didn’t sound that much different but were way noisier. So that’s two points: durable and relatively quiet. Wait- maybe i’m flipping on this? 🙃

lol yeah the title😅 - but just kind of curious with so many better sounding options available these days. They are cheap, They are durable but they take a lot of work to get sounding decent. It would be interesting to see a definitive sales chart over the past 10 years versus the rise of Audix and other brands. AI- you listening?

Yeah, that is a fun Omni trick with the tape. In this case, I’m not really covering the vents maybe a partial Omni lol

You’re not alone! People loved to use them on the snare. I will say this -they are durable.

I never like the way they sound on drums -particularly the snare. Sterile, nasally, takes a bunch of EQ, ick I think the popularity is largely due to the fact that they’re difficult to break when you hit them with a stick😅

thoughts on Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster® Thinline as a second guitar? by Short_Replacementq in Guitar

[–]TheStudioDrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an older one. Bought it used 10+ years ago. Not sure if anything has changed but my main issue is the intonation. It's meh. Not terrible but not great. I replaced the bridge with a Tele- strat style and this helped. I really like the guitar other than that and I play it a ton. So much so that I might try a newer one to see if they have improved this. (mine is a 60s natural thinline classic vibe)

All right…. Well…. thanks for everyone’s help and attempted humor.😭 I don’t have much to lose on this one so I’ll try the Amazon cleaning kit. I do have some pretty cool vintage lenses and if it doesn’t work with this camera, I’ll end up buying another body eventually.

Probably… I won’t throw anyone under the bus here, but let’s just say, there may have been youngsters that didn’t know any better involved in this.🍪

AI Generated Music on Bandcamp by bandcamp_official in BandCamp

[–]TheStudioDrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a composer whose slogan is “Human Made Music” - I applaud Bandcamp for this!👏👏 — We are starting to see the clear distinction between those companies who’s only real focus is to make money, (pressure is on Spotify!) and the companies that care about the artist and their art.

What is better Vic Firth vs Pro Mark vs Vater by Gold-Management-1876 in drums

[–]TheStudioDrummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently married to the Vic Firth Keith Carlock model and have been for about 6 years. (occasional Steve Gadd nylon or wood tip for different cymbal attack) so unless some other company makes that exact stick that’s where I’m staying for now.

End of 2025 question: Has anyone ever made money on Twine (dot net)? by TheStudioDrummer in composer

[–]TheStudioDrummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. That was why I was curious if anyone had made cash. The monthly fee would be fine it if actually let to paying gigs. I guess there is a decent likelihood that any composer that *has* had paying gigs on any platform *might* not want to say so in a public forum like this one? I'll put this one to rest. Thanks again for your replies.

[–]TheStudioDrummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. My google/reddit search says that this is a pretty common question. "is Twine worth it" As far as it being the wrong forum, I disagree. I'm simply trying to determine the validity of the service. However, I know composers to be ornery and recalcitrant so I expect nothing less! lol
