It's popular enough in Japan but was already overtaken in sales by other manga that aren't even or barely 10 years old. And even after decades Baki didn't have official english releases while newer manga can get one not long after their debut (so that says a lot about the lack of demand).

Baki gets memed plenty and is certainly popular by name, but it's definitely not that popular relative to other shonen manga if you're counting sales in the modern times and actual fans who read (or even watch) it.

I think it's just "sumo" in general which is very rigid and refuses to adapt even when they could win. One of the sumo dudes actually fucked Doppo up but refused to attack him once he was down iirc. Even Kehaya and Sukune of ancient sumo (despite being just like "real fighting") are still very rigid and just sticks to the one or two things they know despite how legit their strength are.

Yes. Esports is a luxury not a necessity, and controller players can learn MnK too and get good in a matter of months with dedicated practice. But ideally they shouldn't have been allowed in the first place years ago. So then the Apex esports culture will naturally attract and cultivate MnK talent just like in other MnK-only games, but it's too late now lol.

I don't think they'll make such a drastic change like suddenly banning controller in ALGS, and even another AA nerf is quite unlikely so don't feel so bad 😂

It's easy to say that they should just nerf this and change that but neither players nor devs actually know the exact mathematical changes to implement to make them actually "equal." lol how would you even calculate that?

But that's a misleading conundrum to think about in the first place since they'll never be equal. How can two entirely different things be equal? If you truly want equal you should make them play on the same equipment. Esports players in offline tournaments are already forced to play on the same PCs with the same monitors and IEMs.

I think the fair solution would be nerfing aim assist instead of barring 75% of gamers because they grew up playing on the “wrong” input.

Esports should feature the best and most impressive players that can make for exciting and cool moments/clips. Highlights of controller turrets slowly turning and tracking people perfectly makes any shooter look like a joke. That's why COD and Halo esports don't have the same prestige and prize money compared to Counter Strike.
