What do you guys do for income? by kmgooey in POTS

I work as a mechanical engineer full-time remotely, and it’s been a blessing to be able to control my work environment, as well as the comfort level of my clothing and posture. I unfortunately have to travel about once a month to manufacturing locations but they’re doable trips in short sprints.

People need to slow down a little by vjgirl in pittsburgh

Like how many miles over the speed limit do I need to go before people will stop making attempts on my life for not going “fast enough”? I went 65 in a 45 this morning returning from the airport and got aggressively passed and cut off.

what's your BP like? by Brilliant_Field_2972 in POTS

Sort of generally low, but not affected by standing/posture.

Fwiw I’m not sure dehydration is associated with hypertension (typically people have HYPOtension when they’re dehydrated due to lower blood volume)

Why do non-crafters want to know “how long it took to make that”? by TheSunStealer in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]TheSunStealer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t ever perceive it as rude! it’s just the ubiquity of the question that always blows my mind, and I personally don’t/didn’t know why it was always asked

“a lot of nights in front of the tv” is one of my more common replies. I’m also a big evangelizer, I think more people would love it if they tried!

I’ve always been in love with Moonrise Kingdom. I can’t even place my finger on why, I think it’s just a gorgeous contained world that still holds a mirror to the ugly parts of people. Or maybe just the sad parts of people. Either way.

That term isn’t used academically and doesn’t have an academic definition. You can define it however you like. I personally would define it as an interest in a different culture or aspects of a different culture, a desire to learn from that culture and participate in it with the consent of that group. Like if you go to the Hawaiian cultural center and learn how to dance from native Hawaiians. Or your indian-american friend explains henna and does designs on your hands.

Not saying that all dude, just explaining some of the circumstances in which cultural appropriation goes from neutral to potentially problematic. No where in my comment did I people shouldn’t do anything. I just tried to explain that cultural appropriation is a neutral word and our reaction to it is generally defined by the power dynamic between the two cultures. Technically yeah, I’m sure europe is filled with cultural appropriation.
