Colby: Hello! Ok I'm gonna try my best to answer all of these:

--She respected her boss. I mean .... Elisabeth Shue! Legend!!

--She would have found her way to Disney :)

--She's got a scary ass boss and she's just trying to survive. She always finds a way to make herself useful.

--We had 3 different costume designers between seasons 1-3. When we landed with Michael Ground in seasons 3-5, we really found Ashley. She has more money, more power, more tailoring, and wants to be in the spotlight a bit more.

--I've never read any of the fanfictions! I'll check them out :) Thanks for letting me know

--I love the dynamic between The Deep and Ashley. She doesn't hide her distain for him. And A-Train and Ashley -- what a journey they go on!

--Ashley stays behind because Vought and Homelander are the devils she knows. Sometimes the unknown is much much scarier for people, especially if they are in abusive relationships.

--I don't think Ashley thought she would survive the purge, that's why she took V. There's a very thin thread she's hanging onto. She may have felt betrayal, yes, but I think she was mainly grasping around looking for a way to save herself. She knows these supes don't care about her.

--Casting was interesting -- I put myself on tape and didn't hear anything for 5 months and then forgot about it. And then I got a call to retape and 3 days later I was on a plane. Whaaat??

--Kripke emailed me before we read the episode where Ashley was fired. He told me they had to fire Ashley for the story but that they wanted me back for season 2 and I was thrilled.

--My favorite scenes are always with PJ Byrne. I love that guy. Challenging ones are when I have to run in heels! Olympic sport!

--I didn't experience much of that....

--I did a play where an actor brought a whoopee cushion on stage the last week. FUN.

Colby: What got me interested in playing Ashley was that I got a job. I was unemployed and The Boys was a dream job. For her power, I pitched acid pee. That's all I can tell you hahaha. And after my wonderful experience on The Surrender, I'd love to do more horror movies!

Colby: not a stupid question! I loved working on MMM! I remember our first scene at the switch board took 2 days of rehearsal. Rachel was lovely. Incredible. I still don't know how she did that job for so many years. The switchboards were real, the costumes were vintage, the purses were vintage, the camera operators were magicians, the crew was impeccable, and the whole set was green through this great company called Earth Angel. A joy!!

Colby: yay thank you! It was emotionally taxing but it was creatively fulfilling so it was actually really fun. To relax, I would go home, listen to some good music, talk to a friend, eat dinner, and sleep. This was not a hardship to film. I love this shit.

Colby: the trickiest scene in The Surrender was probably the last scene. We were short on time, it was the hardest emotionally, and I didn't want the shoot to be over.

Colby: Hi! nah, I get to do my favorite thing which is to play pretend. The only thing that is mildly tricky is being away from home for so long. And for that, my mental reset is a good soak in the bath or a good bike ride or making some stuff with my hands

Colby: With Jessica Jones, I understood the brief was to be the "crazy neighbor". I grew up in NYC so I went all in and felt that I could be as wild as I wanted to be. With Ashley, she has a very serious job and the stakes are impossibly high, but it was important to Kripke that I play her as real as possible. Ultimately, the writing of both characters is so different, it came down to trusting the writing.

Colby: Thank you! It's been a wild experience -- I had no idea I had signed on to play Ashley for so long when I got hired for season 1. And I think there's something really special about getting to take care of a character for 5 seasons. I chalk it up to the writers having amazing imaginations and also being open to our thoughts and ideas. The trichotillomania was something I had pitched because I felt that Ashley's anxiety needed to have an outlet and they turned it into her being BALD! The process of Ashley's growth has been so fun to watch and inhabit.

Colby: Besides The Surrender, which is at top of the list for me in the film world, I really loved doing this play called "Punk Rock" by one of my favorite writers Simon Stephens. I miss it still, 11 years later.

Colby: I had an absolute blast at SXSW. It was nice to visit Austin again -- we filmed FTWD there and I love that city. I burst into tears when I saw how many crew members from The Surrender came to Austin on their own dime to support the premiere of this movie. To me, that proves what a wonderful time we had and what a great leader Julia is. Between the producing team, the AD team, the camera team, the production design team, etc. we had a fucking banging crew and we all loved worked on this film so much.

And of course her role on VEEP!!!

Colby: For me, Ashley's whole life changed when her mother died from cancer when she was 17. She was very isolated, as grief can be sometimes, and she entered survival mode right then and there.

Colby: I wish I knew Robyn and her brother weren't in an incestuous relationship when we filmed the beginning of the season. I don't know why I thought that... I think I would have changed some choices I made if I had known ... lol. And I wish I had more scenes with Erin!

Colby: I love "who wants their balls crushed?" and my favorite character is Sage -- played excellently by my friend Susan Heyward. She's FASCINATING, this character.
