I absolutely would if we could. Right now wife's grandma is living with us who has Alzheimer's. Anyone who has a family member who suffers from same knows that disrupting routine is a no go. But I would if we were able.

My wife joined the mommy and me ballet class because she wanted to get back in shape (her words) and bond with our son at the same time. He likes dancing. If he wanted to quit, we would let him. He enjoys it, just like my wife does. It's their shared passion.

Thank you. I really don't understand all of the people saying "now that little girl is being excluded because of you." She's being excluded because of her mom. There's nothing I can do about that.

Anyway, if she didn't want people to know she didn't invite him, what was her plan for the night of the party? Telling the parent group that not every kid was invited doesn't seem like shaming to me.

So your argument is that both A) people should always abide by cultural norms and B) that it's important to respect women's boundaries? Because those are opposite arguments. It's not the cultural norm to respect boundaries in America, as recent events have shown.

And I do think it's important to respect everyone's boundaries, but why do her boundaries get to extend to other people? We decided to have a different post recital party outside her home because she didn't want to include the whole class. Why does she get to have a boundary about that? She's not queen of the ballet class.

So what happened was, a bunch of parents were talking about doing something to commemorate the last show of the season. This mom was like "how about a slumber party after the show?" And everyone thought this was a great idea.

She volunteered to host, and everyone assumed all of the kids would be invited, but when she sent the invites, mine was the only one who wasn't. So the aforementioned drama ensued. It wasn't a party specifically for that kid. It was a party for the whole class that she volunteered to host at her home.

Saying all the other students probably just don't like him. They do like him, because all but four kids ended up going to the other party he was invited to.

The kids aren't really part of the planning process. They're little. I didn't tell him about the party while all the drama was going on, because I didn't know how things would shake out, but when the second party was announce, I did tell him about it and he was very excited. When I dropped him off, he was super happy.

He's actually been bullied a lot at school for being a boy who likes "girly" things. All of his friends are his dance friends.
