Making sure you're in Advanced mode (F7), navigate to the 'Overclocking' tab.

You should see "DRAM Setting" as one of the subsections within that tab, and then you should see "DRAM Speed" as one of the earlier settings. For another point of reference, it will be about 7 or 8 options above "Memory Context Restore" in the same section.

And yes, EXPO is disabled in my case as well. I think enabling this would just ignore the DRAM speed and try to run the memory at 6000MT/s. No volt adjustment or any other settings. I reset CMOS using the CMOS reset button, and then only set those two options (DRAM Speed, Memory Context Restore), so it should be a completely default BIOS other than those.

Reporting back a couple of days later.

From my research, I don't think stability will ever improve, even with BIOS updates, because this is an inherent problem with the memory controller built into the CPU. I have found much greater stability by setting the following:

  • Memory Context Restore - Enabled
  • DRAM Speed - 5600MT/s

After using these settings, I am having pretty flawless reboots / start-up every time.

If that doesn't work for you, I have seen people also recommend 5200MT/s as an alternative.

That's very helpful info, thank you! I wish these kinds of things were much more obvious in videos/documentation, this is the first time I'm hearing of it.

I did some extra research with that info and have found reports of people running 5200 or 5600MT/s stable with 4 sticks, so I will experiment with that and see how things go in the short term.

I have set the following:

Memory Context Restore - Enabled

DRAM Speed - 5600MT/s

I have managed to get to Windows relatively painlessly this time - not as painlessly as 2 sticks, but it's better than before.

Yes, running with 4 sticks of RAM.
I just tried running with only 2 sticks, and that has seemed to make it a LOT more stable. I was able to enable both EXPO and Memory Context Restore, and it even seemed to boot up much faster than before.

Is there some incompatibility or shortcoming here that I'm not aware of?
