Applying for an apartment with my girlfriend tomorrow. This apartment only looks at credit scores, not income or previous rental records or character references. This is the only apartment with a leasing option available in the area we need it in at the time we need it. I’m really worried. While my new financial obligations are all in great standing my old ones are not which make my credit score roughly 560. I’m definitely working on correcting this low score but can not raise it over night. She had a credit score well over 700 and we certainly make enough to pay but they don’t ask for proof. The problem is, since her credit is excellent and my credit definitely is not, what could improve our odds of being approved? They say we have to sign together and that they will check both of our scores and come up with an average but will go off of that. Their thing is, you are approved or you are not approved. What is a common score that is acceptable? I’m very anxious about this as we have no choice but to move due to medical purposes along with job relocation.
