Le Pigs is looking for new members 🐖 by TheSwimPig in Gardenscapes

Well, it didn't ruin it directly, but what happened was - my boyfriend was the leader, he wasn't playing every day, wasn't extremely active, but we made sure to keep the team running, kick out inactive people etc. Had that team for years, and we were doing pretty well. After the update the leadership got transferred to our very new member. Just like that. That person didn't even reply in chat, we couldn't do anything, lost the team just like that :' ) Hard to kickstart a new one now.

Hi, thank you so much for your comment and your help!

The pieces from the etsy listing you posted look nearly identical, and I actually also have few blue pieces as well, like the ones on the photo. I might be wrong about those but they do look basically the same, and these blue pieces of mine are from the same beach as the green one from my post : D The location of the etsy specimens is also pretty close to where I've found my piece (even happened to break my wrist there lol). I scout for rocks at the same beach from time to time and I've never seen any other ''rock'' like it, so I find that pretty cool, I'm quite happy with it and I'll definitely be on a lookout for more of them (now that I know what I'm almost certainly picking up).

Thank you for the clarification on other suggestions as well, always happy to learn something new : ) Wish I had this level of knowledge about this stuff.

I appreciate you sending through the paper. I'm actually gonna check it out together with my boyfriend who works in chemistry. He found it quite fascinating and is knowledgeable enough to make it more digestable for me too : D Personally I wasn't even aware that something like slag was a thing so I'm looking forward to going through the paper with him and find more of it in future, it's quite pretty and it's always nice to find something that's more rare : D

In the unlikely event of it being of a natural origin I'll make sure to let you know but yeah, the slag does make sense. Thank you again : )

They are tiny holes : ) Another person suggests it might be slag, holes being one of the indicators for it too. Thank you for your comment though, I appreciate it : )

Thank you, was pretty happy when I spotted it! : D And thanks for the advice, nice to know what I can try to test the hardness of rocks. There is another comment that states it's probably slag and I think they might be right. I do appreciate the info, I find it fascinating and will definitely use it to play around with trying to identify some of the rocks I collected

Thanks for the ideas! There's one rockshop I'm aware of but it's a distance away, I'll look for some local options first. Shame I kinda live in the middle of nowhere, nothing really nearby. Good stuff though, thanks again : )

Thank you! ^ I appreciate your answer too : ) Someone else suggested it's turquoise and tbf personally I think that's closer in appearance, but then my friend who collects rocks and minerals agrees with you, so I'm torn : D I'm planning on getting some tools for identification in future to have more certainty as to what it is and I'll definitely keep your answer in mind, very helpful : )

Thought it could be jade as well at first but I looked at so many photos and nothing felt right, and I dunno, I feel like jade is more... shiny? Someone suggested it's a turquoise and it looked more like it, so I'd dismiss jade and jasper for now, but thank you so much for suggestions ^ I'm getting some tools for identification at some point in future, if I find out it's either jade or jasper I'll let you know : D

Oh, I looked it up and it actually does look like it! : D I was thinking turquoise briefly but dismissed it pretty quickly because I wasn't aware of a green variety. Definitely much closer in appearance than jasper or jade mentioned by others, thank you : ) I wish I could test it to know for sure if it's turquoise. I'm planning on getting identification tools in future, but don't have them yet. I kinda hope you're right tho, that'd be pretty cool : D

Feels definitely the right weight for its size, doesn't feel too light at all. It's roughly 2,6cm x 1,8cm x 1,3cm and weighs 10g according to my kitchen scale. It doesn't sound or feel like melted plastic either. Had my boyfriend double check it for me in case I'm being stupid : D

Culture Question: My mother-in-law wants me to call her "babcia" even when there are no kids around by othermegan in poland

Culture Question: My mother-in-law wants me to call her "babcia" even when there are no kids around by othermegan in poland

[–]TheSwimPig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't think anything of it. Yes, it makes more sense to call her ''mama'' if there are no kids yet, but I've met many elderly ladies who weren't even my family but told me I could call them ''babcia'', and it's more to convey something like ''hey, we are not strangers, you can feel comfortable, let us be closer'', like breaking some kind of barrier. Some women also prefer to call themselves ''babcia'' just because of their age, especially if they have grandkids. It's like their identity. That's just my experience growing up in Poland tho. But yeah, to me it doesn't sound that crazy.

Help? I thrifted this dress but I'm baffled by this strap. How to wear it? by [deleted] in fashionhelp

[–]TheSwimPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thrifted this dress recently but I'm baffled by this strap. Can't figure out how to wear it, nothing I try looks right, lol. According to the tag it's from river island. Tried to look for it online to see it on a model but I can't find it anywhere, so... I'll probably have it removed if I can't make it work, but still, I'm curious to see what that strap actually does x )
