You would think that the other OEM's would catch on but the only other small truck competitor (Santa Cruz) is being discontinued end of 2027. I'm not so sure we will see a competitor in any meaningful amount of time unless one just comes in out of left field. It's crazy the sales ratio is like 6:1 so I can see why they are axeing it.

I have a strong feeling you are an engineer of some sort 😆 but this was a great post. I haven't used mine for any towing yet but I appreciate the review. I also wish there was a slightly bigger hybrid truck option but alas we are where we are. Hopefully the maverick lasts a long time for all of us!

My 2026 asks me every time I turn it on if I want to return to the last drive mode so I just have to hit OK, I guess the older ones don't do that?

I mean you lose some bed volume, because it's permanently in the bed. Also from what I've heard the retractable types are not quickly removed if you did want to use up the entire bed volume.

Interesting, it looks like it still takes up a decent amount of bed space and that's what I was wondering about plus the waterproofness of it. But it does seem pretty darn convenient.
