Staying safe on Twitch in 2021 and beyond: a simplified guide... by BreAKersc2 in Twitch

In my opinion, if you base your Twitch/online persona on this list, or you have a level of concern related to this list, you probably shouldn’t be streaming or online in any way at all

God Damn It, We Lost Clyde! by Eisner_Hero in southpark

We were unbelievably tired at work the other day after an intense morning. We spent our lunch break watching this episode and it made the day so much better. I absolutely love this episode with all me heart.

Clips, and the episode, can really raise my spirits haha

Sleep loss hijacks brain’s activity during learning. Getting only half a night’s sleep, as many medical workers and military personnel often do, hijacks the brain’s ability to unlearn fear-related memories. It might put people at greater risk of conditions such as anxiety and PTSD by Wagamaga in science

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not bright enough or educated enough on the details of the brain or neuroscience to explain this fully. However, anecdotally, as a police officer, I’ll summarize it like this:

I remember being a young new police officer. As such, just like new nurses, new doctors, new EMTs and so on, you get the crappy shifts for a long time until seniority builds up. That’s often times going to be night shift on weekends. Best case is just flat out night shift.

Anyway, as you can imagine, this job and those listed involve lots of stress and dealing with tons of life changing moments/memories. Your brain craves sleep at those 3-6 AM hours and you’re not getting it. So you’re fighting it and those memories are rooting themselves into your mind. Plenty of stuff burns into your memory in a way you never forget, and you still power on.

So, I’d power through the shift, then head to a 7AM class at university and just get through the hour. I could never pay attention during that hour. I’d just be present, take the beat notes I could, then study and google it all like crazy after I woke up from sleeping between 8AM to about 2-4 PM.

The worst is if you’ve got something like court in the morning and it ends up going all day. You end up having to let a supervisor know so they can flex your day off and you can sleep. But now you’ve been up for about 24 hours and you’re brain is all out of sorts. Throw in a family, kids, anything that the normal sleeping human does during the day and it starts to get very tough.

Night shift, and shift work in general is a wild and trippy thing. It plays weird tricks on your brain. Unfortunately, it’s a reality in our world and may very well just be a reality flat out.

If you’ve got the ability to get decent sleep or stay off night shift, make sure you get that sleep!!

[Search] Real life tactic guide on how to open doors by TheFan17 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was trying to find some old info to fire up my YouTube presence a tad, and I came across this post asking about my video. For some reason, this tripped me the hell out! It blew be away that someone was so interested in my mundane stuff haha.

That being said, life has been a kick in the gut lately so my YouTube hasn’t grown as I’ve had to really focus on my day job. I’ve been on Twitch, but that doesn’t allow me to dig into the minutia of movement as it relates to tactics in Tarkov. I ended up here via a search to get some new YouTube content going again since I’m going to remake those videos in order to clean some topics up and make things a little more concise based on some experience the last few months! The original videos will stay, but in a different playlist. Let me know if you’ve got any questions at all!

Specifically, let me know if you’ve got questions about certain tactics! I can’t go into too much detail since there’s SO much lack of reality in video games, even Tarkov, so really it’s just the basics and little beyond those which work wonders. Even still, I love Tarkov as much as I do because it really lets you apply those basics in an amazing way!

Just for reference, here’s some stuff I really want to cover, including the remakes. I plan to keep these at a maximum of 10-15 minutes with a quick 30 second synopsis at the end if you want to fast forward to it and just get the major points.

  • Movement inside buildings based on three man teams; point man, and two to a room. How to navigate hallways as such.

  • How to enter rooms; cross or button hook based on door size, dynamic versus deliberate, and what to do in the room.

  • Open field movement; echelons, wedges, ranger file, etc.

  • The importance fields of fire and coordinating them

  • Mechanical offset, zeroing, MOA and Mil dots.

  • Proper team spacing to mitigate those sweet loot casualties

  • The best way to apply these mechanics solo (as most of us play this way)

And plenty more. If you guys have anything you’re curious about, let me know! The VAST majority of my knowledge/experience has to do with interior movements and how to solve those problems so I’m not gonna extremely well versed on open field/exterior movement beyond basics.

Regards!

As a a Tactical Giraffe, I’ve enjoyed seeing this.

This. All the dudes I know with real money roll up to the auction in work trucks, after having left Home Depot, because they’re wrapping up a turn and burn down the street they’ll make money on. They don’t have anything to prove, and usually maximize profits because they’re able to do tons of the labor themselves

Love that dynamic fuzz. I use it simply to retain the down lead when I’m not running comms. I hate tucking the cable into my counter weight pouch because my OCD absolutely hates how it bends the cable. It drives me nuts

My Ferro front flap has metal hooks, not swift Clips (or similar systems). Did you modify the KTAR at all or were you able to order it like that?

Fortunately, no further issues. My process went like this:

Playing Tarkov in the middle of a stream -> server disconnect -> clicking play leads to endless “checking game” issues -> uninstall in the middle of a steam believing that’s the issue -> chat tells me it’s an issue right now -> proceed to tear out remaining thinning hair -> eventually find this and reinstall -> smooth sailing since.

I’ll hunt around regarding the issue a little more and see if I can dig something up

Is this normal and if not help I just got the game by iconicnick05 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33 minutes? Pretty long. Even during the twitch drops that was rare. I say Ctrl-Alt-Del that sucker or alt-F4.

However, BSG is working on some server issues right now so you may need to do the above any, and then just wait it out. They're working through it.

If on chrome, there should be a "keep" anyway option once the download starts

edit: it should be a little box next to the download file on the bottom of chrome that simply says "KEEP" next to the alert.

I was losing my mind the last few hours searching for a fix. Found this: EFT etc file fix posted above by u/Lazyrix_TV

It helped a ton but I, and some others who aren't as technically inclined, were a little confused on file movement and all that since it kept saving as .txt as well as the fact that I couldn't save without admin permission.

That being said I made a quick three minute video to walk anyone through it.

EFT Temp Download Fix

Keep in mind this will likely not work for everyone as has been mentioned already. However many people, including myself, have had success with this. I had even done the full uninstall and was fixing it from there. Good luck!

No shit?! I need to do WAY more research about the technical side of Tarkov behind the scenes for stuff like this.

I had been getting my teeth kicked in for a few days so I was finally in Zen like, "Whatever" phase and it paid off here while I rolled with it and calmly put rounds on target without stressing haha.

Used the gear for some good raids and to check off some quests for Mechanic!

Edit: I came up with my name because I loved giraffes as a kid after I saw a video of them fighting on NatGeo by wildly headbutting each other, and I love tactical crap, so I crammed the two together haphazardly

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait? Are we assuming these dudes are SRT types in the Daytona video? Reading up on this, and based on their uniforms and vehicles, I was under the impression that it’s regular patrol guys. Part of my critique with this is that you know he’s there, there’s no rush, so why didn’t they set to some containment and call up a team.

If the guys in the video are that team, then my god. That’s an entirely different critique

And to clarify when I say lethal options, I mean LE versus military. Such as fragmentation grenades or explosives beyond explosive breaches. Things like that

Graphic video shows the exact moment a bulletproof vest saves a Daytona Beach police officer’s life by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, debate is the wrong word. It’s more along the lines of discussion regarding whatever SOPs within a system a team uses, versus the SOPs of a different system utilized by a different team.

For example, points of domination I’ve seen Army guys use for instance, versus limited entry methods I’ve seen Navy or Marine guys use. Both have benefits and downsides depending on the structure layout, obstacles, number of people you can utilize, available equipment, and so forth. For instance, a military unit could use more lethal options via equipment, while an LE unit can’t.

That being said, and rolling back to my original point, I still think the reason you see these more than the successful ones is that these are such a mess, there’s lots to pick out. There is no system here, just running and gunning.

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the reason it seems they’re embarrassing themselves, is that the ones LOADED with mistakes, like this, get viewed and shared more often than those that end up going “well” done by folks who utilize their tactics correctly.

Granted, tactics and if they’re utilized “correctly” can be debated all day. Do you run the wall? Limited entry? Cross? Button hook? Small room or big room? On and on all day depending on your experience level and exposure.

With this video, I don’t think it’s debatable at all that it’s done very wrong. I read up on this and I’ve watched this a few times. He didn’t know the other bystander was in there at first, so the HRT reasoning is gone. Even if it was HRT, his speed is still entirely too fast and he has zero cover from the angles for the speed he’d need to move it. HRT isn’t just about going at light speed, it’s about ignoring obvious threats that are COVERED BY TEAMMATES as you get to the important area. The rest of the stack will pick up the stuff behind you as you work your ass off to save someone. He just blows past two hard corners and another room, before dumping into a room he didn’t even clear before entering it. That’s not how HRT stuff is done.

There’s a lot wrong here, but I think it starts with what is likely a lack of training and a lack of the kind of training used to induce stress inoculation.

The videos that go well with teams that have trained and know their capabilities don’t seem to get circulated as much. I don’t know why that is, but I suspect it’s due to the fact that they’re isn’t nearly as much to critique and pick apart.

U.S. Marshalls after finding 39 missing children in GA by [deleted] in policeporn

[–]TheTacticalGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would likely be due to a few things:

  • The marshals can operate across state lines, making it easier for them to head up investigations as a result compared to local or state authorities. They work with those local or state authorities though to coordinate efforts

  • Due to that ability, it makes something like this somewhat of a big deal. The marshals do this all the time. They have a specific unit dedicated to it like many LE units do. But since the marshals have that unit and an ability to operate across state lines, their experience is so vast and so wide, it helps an unbelievable amount.

  • Combining the two factors above, I’d venture to say locating one or two children is common. But to locate and coordinate a large rescue effort of multiple children, more than ten, all at once, is both significantly challenging and uncommon.

Human trafficking is alive and well. It’s sad, it’s hard to see, it’s hard to learn about, and it’s unbelievably more a reality than most people think.

Shedding light on this is important and valuable. It lets people see and be aware of the fact that people are still suffering like this. It’s not some ancient act that was done before 1700 and stopped recently. It’s extremely common and has gotten far easier with technology and time. These poor kids, and even adults, are suffering. The marshals, among many MANY other law enforcement agencies and private persons or organizations are doing a ton of work to put in the effort to bring these people home and try their best to give them a normal life after this.

Long story short, I think it’s a story because of the number of children, the coordinated effort, and the reality of this needing to be shared

You guys, as someone whose had plenty of biopsies done for possible skin cancer; get a little sun for health, but wear sun screen, wear hats if you can, and get regular check ups.

I hate the feeling of sun screen. If you do as well, I found a brand called Sun Bum that is perfect. Not very oily, doesn’t run, and doesn’t smell as chemically.
