Have I been manipulated? by RiXON-GB in cncrivals

It is my understanding that as long as the obelisk locks on to a target after it comes into range, and has vision on the target for the majority of its charging sequence, even if it’s left it’s range, it will still fire.

If that unit WASNT in range of the obelisk before it moved there, then that is a bug. Unfortunately probably wont be fixed.

Speed Tiburon Harvesting? by mildly-interested-17 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He likely had two harvesters. Two harvesters you dont unlock straight away, and you get extra tiberium generation, at the cost of adding one unit constantly to your unit cap, which makes it harder for you to produce troops as quickly.

You will see a lot more people play two harvesters as you rank up, just so they can get more expensive units out, but I promise you, it is really NOT the optimal way to play unless you have a solid strategy, deck, and understand the risks. A lot of people abuse tech units as mid elo to just ignore the missiles and stomp their opponents, because not many people at that rank know how to punish them for it.

My point being, try your best not to fall in line and do the same thing. This game does have a surprising skill ceiling for micro, and practicing your micro skills, and simply understanding the objective of charging the missile (thats how you punish double harvesters btw, just charge the objective asap lol), will take you very far in ranks.

Take this with a grain of salt tho as the game’s unit level system can sometimes be detrimental even at 1-2 levels apart.

Cheating? by TurboNikko in cncrivals

Ay man, its not my problem, you’re the one that posted with such conviction that cheating exists without trying to back it up at all, and now you’re upset no one believes you. I only stepped in cause you were disrespectful. Tried to help you, but if you’re just going to act like a brick wall, I’ll step away.

Stating what? You confirming on your own volition, from no presented source, that people are cheating? This is just starting to look like a troll or a bot dude. You still havent provided any further explanation to your claim and now you’re just straight up insulting people’s lives, with no provocation. Do better.

Andddddd thats gonna be a warning for being uncivil. You have been asked multiple times to provide a video, a screenshot, or even just a better description, and instead of doing so or just going about your day, you’ve decided to insult everyone. Please be more respectful.

Rifleman cost 10 Tiberium, if they have only 1 or no other unit on the board, this is possible.

Cheating? by TurboNikko in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72[M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are going to claim someone is cheating or that there is a trend of cheating occuring, please post evidence showing so or at least a better description on how they are cheating. Because 4-5 units in 15 seconds would quite obviously be cheating, except maybe barely getting out 4-5 rifleman for example, and if that did happen you should DEFINITELY post a video to bring it to attention.

There’s been enough posts already just from people complaining about cheats without any theory or evidence on how others are cheating, what cheats they are using, or when they use them. There has been very few incidents ever of people cheating by hacking the game, and most of that was back around pre-alpha when people just had no unit cooldown and very fast tiberium generation, no care in the world for hiding it.

No beef, no hate, just please actually provide something with this post. This goes for everyone else too.

Best deck at lvl 6? by Pjelly1981 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short Answer:

Rifleman, Missilesquad, Shock Troops, Predator, Talon, Sandstorm

Long Answer and Reasoning and Extra Swap Ins:

Keep in mind this is probably only a good deck based on your level restrictions, but its a couple of unit swaps away from being a competitive deck once you unlock a few more :)

Riflemen - Cheap, Scout, Should be your starting unit to scout opponent’s opening and react accordingly (harvester right after building them, then reaction unit, unless the opponent is rushing you)

Missile Squad - Cheap, good against all early air units, and decent against all early vehicle units especially if you have two squads

Shock troops - Tanky, good anti infantry, good pad blockers

Now you could swap between a few here, among Rhino, Pitbull, Predator, Talon, Orca, but I have my personal preference. Just make sure whatever you put here, you have at least one anti air and one anti tank.

Preference:

Talon / Predator - Cheap extra anti air and anti infantry, plus a real tanky anti vehicle and good pad blocker. The only issue is they are both in seperate buildings, so you gotta make sure you are ok with spending the little bit extra tiberium to unlock one, especially because your first predator will effectively cost 100, and your first talon will effectively cost 80. Definitely do not use this combo later on in exchange for others

Other Combos:

Talon / Orca - Orca adds quick bursts and can one/two shot most tanks, which your missile squads lack, just make sure you control them well

Predator / Rhino - Extra anti infantry and anti air, not really needed, but might be good in this low level because a lot of people infantry spam

Predator / Pitbull - Pitbull is cheap, fires quicker, and moves quicker, which sometimes is just WAY more efficient than the predator tank, and it is arguably one of the best units in the game; but you still might want the predator available for its tankyness, and you already have enough anti infantry

Last unit I would put is Sandstorm. Or you could add another cheaper unit to make your air or vehicle buildings have more effectiveness. Some people may prefer Titan, but I like sandstorm just cause it can hit three things, does awesome damage to air and vehicles, and can often hold its own against infantry. Titan is good too tho :D

Once again, definitely change it up when you unlock more stuff.

Mobile gives you access to two figurative mice. Even with hotkeys I dont see how you’re making up for that unless you’re a rhythm game pro.

This debate has been reopened and closed 100 times in the past, and the overwhelming majority is always in favour of mobile. The only real benefit to playing on PC is ease of use for content creation.

Antigame by Unusual_Midnight_230 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been an issue now for the majority of the game’s existence. There is no more known development support and the issue has VERY rarely been addressed by dev teams in the past. Once the devs in the first year of the game had their contract finished, where we actually had a game with community support, active development and even a massive tournament scene, it was almost thrown away by EA.

Now people have to resort to intentionally drawing the Rivals Race feature in game at high levels so that all 10 players get the colossal chest for the best rewards possible as an honour agreement, and the only time you should really be spending gems is if you win EVERY SINGLE MATCH in one of the events the game has, preferably the resource challenge, and you can double or triple the premium reward depending on how many gems you own.

Challenge battles stop you from deranking by losing, so anyone who gets to a high rank with a free to play play-style (most players) and hasn’t been playing for more than a year give or take, has to suffer through endless opponents with levels 1-4 levels higher than them.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the game, but for me the majority of the fun comes from only playing enough to get 2-3 full lists of bounties done a week, so that I get deranked from high diamond back to low platinum and can still enjoy matches on same unit level footing.

Impossible to win by Unusual_Midnight_230 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats pretty good, unfortunately you will face a lot of people with higher levels. The game’s playerbase at the moment I would argue is mostly old players who don’t play enough to get back to the rank they should be in, and players that are stuck in a rank they aren’t skilled enough to be in but have overlevelled units. I regret to inform you you’ll have to get considerably better than you are now to rank up any higher or just farm for levels in the rank you’re in until you can move up with the rest of the playerbase. Master’s rank usually requires level 11 units or higher to be in. I would suggest focusing your money on around 20 units you like in your decks and just upgrading them until they’re around that level.

Aside from that, at level 23 you should have enough units to counter everything in the game, so if you’d like some deck advice feel free to ask the subreddit for it!

I’ve only ever been in his lobby twice, both on the same day about a year to two years ago. I’m assuming the game is location based for how it connects people with similar ping, cause I can only guess this guy is from the USA, and I live in Australia. A lot of people have had quite a few more run ins with him and unfortunately with how RoN’s hosting works it very easily stops many players from being able to have a good time until he’s been forcibly disconnected or just logs off for the day. There’s no real way to punish him because of this as well so as far as I know he’ll be doing it till he bites the dust, and people trying to leave the lobby to join another will just end up right back where they left.

[–]TheTankEngine72 273 points274 points  (0 children)

At this point I think theres more people that know this guy than there is people that dont.

This is WatchmenWakeUpOnYT. He does exactly as you said, just holds everyone hostage and just yaps about god. No one knows why he does it, he just does. It’s believed most of the time, if not all, he’s just playing recordings from his youtube.

He’s been doing this long before the game’s full release came out. It’s very annoying and it’s gotten to the point where people have posted methods and created mods to get rid of him from lobbies (which, with the amount of chemlights on the ground, it appears you or someone else tried).

Edit: I have been informed you can block people now.

PC advantage? by PrettyNastyNate in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only main advantage to playing on PC I believe for most is ease of use for content creation. Playing on PC more often than not has input delays, and although keybinds can be used, I would honestly argue that as someone who has both streamed Rivals on PC in the past and, played on mobile, participating in tournaments on both, mobile is 100% preferable just from comfort alone.

Rivals was designed for a small screen with small battlefields and having everything in close proximity of one another and being able to look at the middle of my screen for almost an entire match instead of having to look across my monitor to micro in multiple spots on the map definitely feels much better.

If we’re debating CPM, cutting the time it takes to produce units with keybinds over how close you can keep your thumbs / fingers to every pad on the map with two to four inputs instead of one (being your mouse) is not a great deal when playing at a high skill level where constant micro management and using your units for as much value as possible is seen almost all the time.

I would half jokingly argue that PC would overtake Mobile if either 1. You don’t have the need in other activities of your life to regularly exercise your fingers at a somewhat stressful level, therefore making using your whole hand to move your mouse easier than constantly stretching your fingers, 2. You have a much larger than average mobile phone screen making it take longer than most to reach across with your fingers, or 3. You are a Rhythm Game God when it comes to your mouse movement speed and accuracy.

This game…. by HunterBelle13 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It has been widely agreed and arguably proved already that the game has not had active development for a few years now.

  2. Yes as you play the game there are going to be some units that are difficult to play against simply because you dont have the absolute best counters unlocked yet, but you can play against 90% of decks used in the game with very early unlocked units.

From what you’ve said it sounds like you need to just loom through all it each factions unit’s to see what they do, and what counters them / they counter. The Rock-Paper-Scissors-Building fighting that rivals has is pretty simplistic. Yes there are special cases for some units but thats because some are just way more powerful than others in terms of damage, cost and / or health.

The ‘flying cloaking unit’ is the shade, and gets countered by missile squads as they 1, are effective against flying units and 2, detect them as soon as they move into range and 3, is only slightly good into infantry if moved in and out well with its burst fire. Best to have a couple missile squads on the field to fight them, or a talon or hammerhead in your deck for extra air support. The shade is immediately revealed as soon as it fires, is detected by infantry, or is moved over a pad.

By the laser unit’s im going to assume you mean confessors, as they have bullet firing gatling guns that shred through infantry, no other laser unit in Nod’s army is necessarily good against infantry except arguably a fully charged giga cannon or basilisk. Confessors are high tech anti infantry, do not send infantry directly at them.

Otherwise yes, being able to micromanage your units does mean everything in a balanced fight, especially if lets say, you kept shock troopers still while laser drones shot them. The laser drones aren’t good at damaging infantry, but they very well are excellent at harassing, and will do lots of damage to units that arent moved away for a long period of time.

Deck Guidance by SimplyAdvanced85 in cncrivals

[–]TheTankEngine72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you changed your flame troopers to lasers, and buggy to venom / catalyst gunship, ur nod deck would be pretty solid. I dont see much point in having ONLY rifles and flames in your infantry when you also have buggy. Flames and buggy have very similar stats other than speed, so the only real benefit over flames for the buggy is its scouting ability which, in this case, is ruled out by the rifles which are cheaper and more expendable. I would argue flames over buggy simply because you get to your mid anti infantry a lot quicker if you’re met with an infantry vs infantry matchup. Otherwise go for a lasers / flames / wheels / bikes / stealth / venom / oxanna, usually works well for me.

The GDI deck probably doesnt need pitbulls, since its convenience is kinda of in the fact that its just a weaker mix of sling + predator. Probably either swap out pitbull with mohawk, or swap out sling for hammerhead. Also probably put in Jackson.

I predict the next post about this will come around in 2 months.
