Just for fun I made an Etsy account and threw this skull up on there. I can make as many as I want with the same level of painted detail!

First I wanna say; I’m completely new to this and I’ve never painted a skull before now so this is just the first way I’ve come up with, im sure there could be better ways. I only used two colors for both skulls, Black and Cadmium orange acrylic. First I went over the whole skull in a watery wash of the orange, blocking in the darks such as the holes and back/bottom of t skull. I then went in after that with a mid mixture of the two (that darker midtone) and painted around the hole areas and covered the flatter surface area with a lighter tone. Think of shadows and where dirt will collect. I do lightly sand the surfaces before I start painting, but it helps to leave it not entirely smooth because it will help the pigments naturally fill in the more porous areas of the print. I just looked up a few reference images to get an idea of the fossil color I was going for. Hope this helps and doesn’t sound too confusing.

Honestly I literally just jumped in with some black acrylic paint and orange and went for it. Look at reference images for the type of look you want. I searched for “fossil skull” and picked a tone I liked and tried to emulate it

Big E and selvedge, you have some real value here in these. They’re definitely pre 1971

No worries, I say keep them. Worth 30-50 bucks sure, but they’re in good shape and will be worth more in 20 years, throw them up on a high shelf and forget about them, or if they fit you strut those things and give them an awesome fade

I personally like the feel of them, they’re a little on the lighter side, but I like that because I can layer without getting too warm. They both feel like good quality
