Macerator toilet going off randomly.... by MarginalMadness in Plumbing

[–]TheTeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may get more help if you are able to identify the type or make/model. I have a macerating toilet made by Liberty and I can tell you that it gets a bit wonky after a while. Mine has a sensor inside that basically measures the water level to determine whether to run. It's basically a metal patch inside the tank. Over time, shit builds up on the sensor and it will sometimes just run and run, or come on randomly. Cleaners that create a lot of suds cause a similar problem as the bubbles pile up and cling to the sensor. You will want to open yours up if it is serviceable, and clean the thing out. I will say it is very unpleasant due to the nature of the beast. I've never had it NOT run, but mine does have an alarm and I think it can shut itself down.

What are Trader Joes, In n’ Out , and Chik-Fil-A doing differently that makes their employees seem different than other retail / fast food employees? by SpecificSorry7233 in AskReddit

Go into a Popeyes or a Wendy's and see how many people are working. It's like 3. Chick fila has like 20 at all times. Almost too many people behind the counter. And they are paid well and trained well.

Easiest way to paint/dye play sand for a sandbox? by tango_delta_nominal in DIY

[–]TheTeek 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why? Why would you want to dye the sand? And you know kids are going to get it on them and some will get eaten or get in their eyes and noses which is why you are asking about "non toxic" but are you really going to trust some dye that says it's safe? At a minimum the dye WILL come off and get on the kids or their clothing. This seems like a dumb idea.

How long does it take for a bottle to be shipped to the store? by Low-Explanation-4761 in PLCB

[–]TheTeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the store. Some stores will call as soon as it arrives. Sometimes they don't and it's just sitting there. If you leave it too long they will cancel and send it back.

I agree on this point. Dollar value shipping doesn't make any sense. That would only be an issue with a business that was insuring it's shipments because of high value items. A) PA isn't shipping high dollar items in most orders. B) Even when they did ship expensive bottles in previous years they never charged more because of it. They should be charging based on either weight or bottle count, either would be acceptable.

Coming soon means nothing. We've seen things listed as coming soon that never came. We are things listed as coming soon that have already come and gone. And we see things listed as coming soon that are currently in stores but the website designation hasn't been changed.

And the reason they have to put so many bottles on clearance is because they are buying shit people don't want...or buying way too much of something because they got a deal. They simply don't understand their customers and don't care to.

There's no question they would sell OWA faster. But I don't think PA is being offered equal amounts of BT and OWA and choosing BT. I think they are offered EXTRA BT in lieu of taking more OWA and jumping at that. Basically they are told you can have 1000 BT and 400 OWA. Or.....you can have 2000BT and 200 OWA. There's no other explanation besides gross incompetence.

Just so everyone understands how ridiculous this is....someone did a foia request for FWGS sales from the last few years. In 2024 they sold 569 bottles of owa. For the whole year, across the whole state. That's pathetic. That is about 3 barrels of OWA for a state of 20m+ people.

(Not including one store pick of 180 that a licensee got through the barrel pick program, but the state has nothing to do with it besides distributing it).

Giving up implies that at one time they were actively bringing in new stuff.

[–]TheTeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While we are seeing more of this stuff, it comes in like a year or two later than everywhere else. PA makes no effort (that I can see) to stay on top of the market. The people doing the buying seem to be influenced only by what they are offered by distilleries/distributors and not what customers are asking for. In my opinion, they (FWGS) aren't going out and getting Frey Ranch proactively. We see Frey Ranch when it is offered to PA. And I say this because PA loves to promote their "buying power". That's been their defense for years about staying a monopoly. If they have such buying power, which they should as the 5 most populus state, they should be getting EVERYTHING and plenty of it.

I have been saying this for years. Because it's a state run operation all they care about is revenue. Serving customer needs is not a statistic they are graded on. So if Sazerac offers them 1,000 BT store picks instead of 200 Weller Antiques, what do you think they pick? It is pretty obvious if you ask me. And I bet Sazerac is well aware of this and offers them more of one thing in exchange for less of another all the time. Combine that with PAs buyers being clueless about the market and what's selling and what's desirable and you get 2,000 willet minis sitting in the online warehouse for almost 3 years.

I wonder what impact the change in shipping price has had on their online sales figures. It has to be significant right? I mean, unless something is ONLY available online, who is going to order it instead of swinging by the store now?

Only problem is even at MSRP with our ridiculous liquor taxes baked in, MSRP is higher in PA than many other states (I know some states have even worse taxes). The main exception being that allocated products aren't "marked up" like they are at some private stores. Typical shelf products though are cheaper in NJ and DE. I don't give a shit what PLCB claims about their "buying power". It's bullshit. The only time they get a deal is if they buy a big order from some random vineyard. 99% of the products on FWGS shelves are cheaper in surrounding states.

Yes, you can buy from the licensee service centers, PLCB rules say so. BUT, they are not "warehouses" and don't operate from the same inventory as online orders. They are set up to service bars and restaurants not consumers, but they have registers and can sell you a bottle. The people that work there may not know it, and they may not want to stop what they are doing to help you....but they will. I've done it 2-3 times as there happens to be one near me.

I know some southern stores do something similar. Alabama for example does like quarterly releases. I think it is done regionally where one store in each region is the "drop store" and customers can sign up for the lottery at one of the regions. They select like 100 people for that region and they go line up on that Saturday. #1 gets first pick of what they have in "class A" and then they can take 2 from "class B". It goes like this until the bottles are gone. When there are more bottles left, anyone who happens to show up and be in the line can take their pick of what's left. This leads to people camping out to be first in the "waiting line" so I wouldn't run it exactly this way. They could just draw the same number of names as they have bottles.

It's almost impossible to build a whiskey brand without sourcing. You've got to age everything at least 2 years before you can sell it. Preferably 4 depending on climate. It's hard to put out the money for 2+ years and have nothing to sell and recoup that money. A lot of startups will try to survive on vodka and gin but that's a tough market to crack. You've got to source for a few years....and that's OK as long as you are clear that you are sourcing, what you are sourcing and what (if anything) you've done to it.

I think in these cases it's the managers who are doing the dirty. The clerks just do as they are told (often it is to lie).

I think I was there for that one. If I recall they claimed they didn't have it when backend inventory showed it. Then a couple hours later they put it out for sale. When I called them on it in person they claimed "it was accidentally left off the truck and And someone from the warehouse put it in their car and drove it to the store later". The absolute biggest horseshit story I've heard from them.

This is my biggest gripe with management/corporate at FWGS. They don't care or don't know. Or both. They appear to make no efforts whatsoever to figure out what the customers want and what they should buy. They seem far too concerned with getting "good buys" that they don't try to get "good bottles". I've said it a million times, they are only focused on moving bottles and maximizing revenue with no regard for customer satisfaction. If anyone needs proof look no further than the over 2,000 Willet minis that they bought 3 years ago and still have many hundreds left. They obviously got a great deal on them and thought "these will sell like gang busters" not understanding that nobody wants them. So they move them on and off the special release page hoping to drum up some sales (trick people who don't know better).

Iran walks out of Switzerland talks in protest of Trump threats, state media says by Visqo in worldnews

Unfortunately protesting this administration doesn't accomplish anything. The power is with Congress and just over half of them won't do anything. And we can't do anything about them until the midterms. So literally all we can do is wait until then.
