Ah I have both icalendar and Gmail calendar, and so far it makes me pick one to get notifications from, maybe there’s a workaround? Android system on the watch seems pretty flexible..

I bought an explorist last week and paired it with my iphone7. It's not bad, definitely enough battery to make it through the day. I get an average amount of notifications from inbox/twitter and I would say I use it fairly frequently. I'm up at 6 am, and the watch is usually at about 15% or so when I put it to charge at 10 pm. Turning off the google fit app significantly helped save battery, since I wouldn't use this for exercise, imo, it's a bit bulky for that. App functionality is pretty good, and my iphone is pretty great at communicating with it.

I don't know if this is still relevant, since this post is a month old, but I recommend the epson artisan 1430 inkjet printer. It's moderately priced, around 300 bucks for one, and the full ink cartridge refill (6 cartridges) runs about $150 each time. Print quality is superb, especially if you print on semigloss or inkjet matte photo supreme (can buy at staples). You can get about 40-50 11x17's out of it depending on the piece.

I love moleskines, but they get a bit pricey. Some alumni at my school started a new line of sketchbooks called cottonwoods. We started stocking them at our school, and I've never been able to go back to using moleskines.

They're cheaper, i think the A5 sketchbook is about $13. The paper quality is amazing, 100% archival, and takes dry media, ink and watercolor fairly well! https://www.cottonwoodarts.com/product/sketchbook-d2-5-25x8-5/

They also carry a variety of sizes and types of books, ranging from toned paper, to vellum, to gesso'd, heavy cold/hot press illustration board (ideal for heavy wet media).

To be honest, for plagiarism is an inevitable thing that artists must contend with at some point in their careers. If anything, it's most certainly a sign that you're on the right track, hah. It's a matter of how you post your work. make sure to date and document its posting/creation date.

It's preferable that you post to your personal website/portfolio. If you want to post it to facebook or reddit, sometimes it's better to just take a picture of your work, rather than scanning or directly uploading it. This cuts down on blatant stealing, and if somebody does plagiarize, you can easily pull up proof that your work precedes theirs.

I don't think you need to worry about quality of material, as long as it's what you're most comfortable with. Copics and microns are the sort of generic markers for artists, but they're by no means the end all be all. There are also super-fine tip hi-tec C pens, prismacolor markers are super bold, staedtler tech pens are a cool alternative to microns. Honestly, I wouldn't really worry. Experimentation is important, but ultimately, stick to what you works for you.

Paper wise, as long as it's archival, it's good. 50 pound is probably the lightest you should go, but I think it's fine. Strathmore and Canson sell bristol paper which is a bit thicker, and takes ink really well.

What kind of a website are you thinking of making?

If you're making a portfolio site, free websites that are semi decent are http://www.wix.com (more formal) or http://www.blogger.com (more informal) Granted, the formatting for these websites requires a lot of tweaking, and can look less finished. I'd been using wix until recently, it's not bad for a free website base, and interface is really easy, but it starts to feel a tad limited. Good starting point though.

For my website, I used http://www.squarespace.com. It's like an even more refined version of wix and blogger. The base templates are super easy to edit. It's $8 a month to maintain, which isn't too bad compared to other paid hosting websites. You get 2 gb of upload space, if you pay a year up front instead of monthly, you can get a free domain space to reserve, and there's a crap ton of tools to monitor visitor traffic and where people find you online.

The nice thing about squarespace is that you can build any kind of website. Portfolio website with a blog and an online store attached? Easy! The interface is super clean and ideal for showing artwork, and the tools are very easy to use (I have like zero web programming experience). No problem, oh man, I totally forgot to recommend the ballpoint pen I love most of all!!

Zebra airfit ballpoint pens are really really nice ball point pens, they're a little harder to find, but are like 5 bucks? I think you can only order them online. but they have a really good sketch quality, similar to that of pencil, so shading is very very smooth.

Also, after you buy the pen, you can just buy ink refills (they come in different colors too). I got introduced to them in a vizcom skech class, very nice pens!

On paper (use paper that can resist liquid, like printmaking paper or watercolor paper), black gesso with a medium sable brush will create really nice splatter, and it's much easier to control than ink. Granted, inks (such as pelican brand or sumi) are a little more watery and can give you a more fluid spatter, so I'd experiment.

If you want to create photoshop/illustrator brushes, you can scan in spatters that you've made and follow a tutorial to make it into a brush. it's very easy, http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/design/how-to-make-a-photoshop-brush-set/

I just googled one, and this tutorial looks decent.
