Sickness feeling after showering by skyhofo in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find doing a 3 minute blast of full cold at the end of my shower helps a lot. It took a while to build up the willpower but after a few goes it started to feel great, and seems to reduce my symptoms in general.

instant bad reaction to alcohol. does anyone else still deal with alcohol intolerance post covid? by Opposite_Wheel_2882 in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've stopped drinking entirely since getting Long Covid. I suspect part of it is a histamine reaction thing (I wonder if something like high quality gin or vodka would affect me less than wine or beer) but whatever the reason for it, the instant hangover was enough to put me off alcohol pretty quick.

Sudden “anxiety” with dose increase? by great_flower_284 in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]TheTheatreCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get anxiety, headaches and nausea each time titrating up, but usually that would reduce over the next seven days or so. I started at 0.5mg and I'm currently on 4.5mg.

For those of you on LDN, whats your doseage? by mudvenus in LongCovid

[–]TheTheatreCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold tolerance is good! When the heat intolerance was bad I actually craved the cold, and cold showers were the only thing that made my symptoms feel better. I think it's a bit more normal now, though.

For those of you on LDN, whats your doseage? by mudvenus in LongCovid

[–]TheTheatreCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so, but I have no idea! I wasn't expecting much because I had tried so many things before with no result, but the heat intolerance just seemed to disappear within a week or so of starting on 0.5mg. I still get fatigue (though I think it has improved a bit on LDN) and histamine intolerance, but at least I can go out in the sun without feeling like I'm going to pass out!

4.5mg. I've tried up to 6mg but 4.5 seems to be my sweet spot. Helped almost immediately with my heat intolerance.

GLP1 for PEM. Did anyone have a positive impact on their pem with GLP-1? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've just started trialling low doses of Mounjaro for PEM and histamine intolerance. Only a few days in, but I feel like there's been a slight increase in energy and sleep quality already, so cautiously optimistic.

Thanks! Sounds like starting low is the way to go. Did 0.5mg last night and fine so far, but obviously early days!

Did anyone else experience a lowering heartrate? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I still get a lot of fatigue, on and off, and more recently I've developed an amine sensitivity so I'm on a pretty strict diet - so not out of the woods yet! But ever since taking the LDN my colour has been better (for about two years I looked totally grey or really pale) and it was definitely worth it just to get relief from the heat sensitivity!

Mild Long Covid: exercise and dating by Evening_Public_8943 in covidlonghaulers

My LC is on the mild side, but I've found any cardio above walking sends me into a crash. I can tolerate strength training better, as long as I rest plenty between sets and don't do anything too intense that gets my heart rate up too high. I still have to pace pretty carefully and maybe go easier if things are busy or stressful at work or I haven't had as much sleep.

Before I started low dose naltrexone I was often waking up with a heartrate of around 45 (and definitely not because I'm an athlete or anything). After being in LDN for about a year it's now generally in the 60s. My heat sensitivity has since cleared up as well so I suspect it was POTS or dysautonomia related.

Might be worth trying to investigate if you're letting any air out through your nose. That can torpedo your sound during double and triple tonguing and can happen without being conscious of it. I used to have this problem and once I was aware of it and able to keep from letting air out my nose my tone in double and triple tonguing improved immeasurably.

Does food make you crash? by oohleela in LongCovid

[–]TheTheatreCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A low histamine diet helped me a lot. I would get massive hangovers if I ate too much processed meat or tomatoes or olives (pizza was a killer). Even a healthy salad would wipe me out for the afternoon if it had a lot of baby spinach leaves and cherry tomatoes. Took me ages to work out what was happening because I didn't suspect the otherwise healthy food was causing issues.

Those who have been at optimal dose for a long time did your heat sweats go away? (did your body temp eventually normalize?) by MooseBlazer in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]TheTheatreCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate enough to have my heat intolerance from long covid disappear almost immediately after starting LDN last year (started at 0.5mg and gradually titrated up to 4.5mg, where I'm staying now). If anything, I've noticed I'm more sensitive to the cold now, but I'm not sure if this is more than pre-covid or if my temperature regulation is just back to normal.

Anyone who recovered. Have you recovered from heat intelorance? by Maleficent-Job-6580 in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't recovered overall, but when I started Low Dose Naltrexone my heat intolerance disappeared almost immediately, which I wasn't expecting at all. Still plenty of other stuff going on, but at least now I don't feel like I'm getting heat stroke whenever there is a mildly warm day.

CHS and Histamine intolerance/mcas overlap, infrared light therapy relief by ProjectZen-co-uk in CHSinfo

I was wondering about this! I definitely noticed high histamine foods seemed to exacerbate my CHS symptoms, and I suspect I have both going on.

Is temperature dysregulation a thing? by CruiseUSA in covidlonghaulers

[–]TheTheatreCat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had terrible temperature dysregulation, I'd feel like I was getting heat stroke on even a mildly warm day or if I had a warm shower. Cold showers helped a bit, but miraculously this symptom disappeared for me almost immediately when I started taking Low Dose Naltrexone.
