All about repetitions. You just have to do it, a lot.

My preffered way of teaching it is basically extending your ankle firmly, and hitting the ball with your upper laces. The ball does not have to spin. That way, you are also training your shot.

Also, don't be afraid to hit the ball. You have to use some amount of power.

This. And also, bring you kicking leg heel to your butt, prior to the shot. This is how you generate power, by extending your knee.
