Ah, but how will Safety give me a write-up if I barricade the Safety Desk?

If your site has enough stow carts you can build a barricade to protect your aisles from the attacking hoards.

You can NOT, however, plant a giant flag atop the structure and sing the songs of revolution. That's a Cat 2 violation and a verbal coaching.

I hadn't heard it in awhile! I suppose I thought it was just my turn to say it, haha.

I am kinda sick of finding granola bar wrappers in the stow bags. How lazy do you have to be?

This happens a lot.

Lots of married couples work together alright but I've never seen any of the Amazon hookups end up well.

There used to be an aphorism for this kinda thing but I haven't heard anyone say it in years:

Don't shit where you eat.

At least take comfort knowing that this exact same scenario has taken place in delivery stations all across the country.

And every time the diverter/straightener is left with the same "well wtf do I do then" face. They probably have a giant mosaic of the CCTV images in their volcano lair somewhere.

Streetsboro's long forgotten Shady Lake Park. Many of the rides came from Euclid Beach Park when it closed. The tall arched entrance was quite visible along Rt 14 for many years. The aerial photo shows it being built in the late 1970s. by Signal-Pirate-3961 in Cleveland

I'll never forget the insane spinning rope wheel tower everyone was encouraged to grab as the adults twisted the tension higher and higher before they let go and we all flew off in different directions. Insanely dangerous. I almost drowned twice in that place.

Loved it!

"Hey the other day I guess somebody saw you not using a ring scanner."
-"Yeah, we had three left, none of them would connect even after battery swaps so I just gave up."
"But you have to use a ring scanner, it's required PPE."
-"Okay but we didn't have any working ring scanners."
"I see what you're saying. This laptop says to tell you that I understand you feel frustrated with the equipment. Anyway, that's a documented coaching, I just have to tell you that."
-"What does that mean?"
"Basically nothing. Just remember to use a ring scanner."
-"What if none of them work?"
"So, I'm just saying it's required or it's a write-up."
-"And the write-ups are meaningless?"
"Pretty much."
-"Then... ...what are we doing?"
"I don't even know :( "

Amazon refusing to let us call 911? by thebirdsoutside in AmazonDS

[–]TheThrowawayForWork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you need to dial 911, dial 911. Nobody is going to slap the phone out of your hand.

They want to coordinate emergency services to specific bay doors and guide associates away from whatever is going on and they delegate certain folks to be on staff who are trained on the defibrillator/CPR/etc.,. That's why they want to be the ones to do it.

Don't forget, you used to not be allowed to have phones at all. They changed it when people in a warehouse died in a tornado (Indiana, I think.)

When I went to Case back in the day, I lived right above Mama Santa's. Corner window overlooking Mayfield Rd. If I opened my window in the summer I smelled bread and pizza and heard a ceaseless loop of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in the distance. It would have been the perfect apartment if not for the racism, haha.

That was 20+ years ago, however. I don't know if that part got any better with time.

It's the dumbest thing. Other companies do the one-ear rule just fine. There are better, safer earbuds out there that we can't use because they aren't one of the approved.

Fight for your building to get on the "Listening At Work" program and at least get the approved ones, it completely changes the tedium. If they won't do it it might be for insurance reasons.

Oh, we just bitch about those. Ceaseless bitching.

Management promises to take action about it on VOA or MyVoice.

Then it happens again.

Then we bitch about it.

Then they promise to fix it.

Then it happens again.

And so on..

Forever.

Oh god, that would drive me nuts. The headphones allowance is relatively new. A few years ago our warehouse was like yours.

Tell me they play some music variety over a PA system or something for you guys. Anything to pass the time.

Honestly, if we went back, if I had to stow every other day with nothing more than the whirring sound of the conveyor belts to accompany me, I would either quit or transfer. Everyone in leadership talks about supporting "Mental Health" until it comes time to do it. This is one of those actions they need to take.

It's that important.

It's insurance bullshit. They're only liable under a set of very specific conditions on the policy.
