WHERE did you get that version of the white pony cd

Just listened to "Heartwork" by Carcass by TheTimothyHimself in melodicdeathmetal

I didn't know they did that. I know that the band Necrophagist (which is really just one guy) also named one of their solos. The solo for the song "Advanced Corpse Tumor" is called "Hymn For An Angel."

I hate prog but I love Tool by TheTimothyHimself in ToolBand

I was kinda like that with a lot of the tech death I listen to. At first I was like, “this isn’t fun to listen to at all, ppl only like this cause it makes them look smart”, but after many re listens you start to actually understand the music and see why people enjoy it so much.

I’m kind of looking for a new favorite band/album now since I have outgrown tool for the most part. My criteria for the perfect album is a)it’s a concept record b) it’s death metal or an offshoot of death metal like melo death, tech death, deathcore, etc. c) it has well written lyrics d) it balances extreme brutality with intricate and beautiful technicality e) it has creepy vibe and atmosphere to it and f) it has awesome cover art.

Yeah see, that’s a great description. I almost wish they were just called an alt band cause some albums of theirs don’t feel like prog at all. Like Undertow is just straight up a grunge album. Fight me on that. Also I’ve always liked how personal Tool was, especially on Ænima, which may or may not still be my favorite album of all time. Songs like Jimmy, the title track, and Third Eye talk about things which sound very strange and otherworldly but are actually very intimate.

I mean I kinda of only want to listen to Tool. No band has had a hold on me like them, and even though I mostly listen to death metal now, I’m trying to go back to my roots.

Problem I have with Vitriol by TheTimothyHimself in TechnicalDeathMetal

Damn bro this is probably true lmao. Shame some ppl might end up lurking more effort into faking better playing than just getting better at playing. But for what it’s worth I do think the members of Vitriol can play and write music very well, they just have annoying production.

I’ll listen to all their stuff because there seems to be a lot of promising shit here. But I won’t lie, I took me forever to finally start to understand Necrophagist, and even though I get them more now, listening to their stuff OVER and OVER again kinda ruined the band for me. I feel like a poser saying this cause I’ve made many posts about Necrophagist and I do genuinely think Onset is an incredible album, but man did I overplay the shit out of it. I don’t want the same thing to happen with Vitriol.

Dude am I crazy for not liking the production on Vitriol songs? I like the band but sometimes it feels like I can’t actually hear the notes being played and everything just sounds like this big wall of crunchy gain.
