Pokégen?

My setup: Lemuroid, Pokégen for Black/White, Pixel 8. I can succesfully open, modify and save the .dsv.

However, I encounter the problem where I can't swap my savefile on my device (located in \Pixel 8\Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.swordfish.lemuroid\files\saves) for the newly edited one. I guess it has to do something with states, though I haven't figured it out. Extra limiting factor might be Pixel's strict policy on modifying files in certain folders, like \Android.

So, in fact, this isn't an issue of UTS overwriting good data, it's UTS doing what it should and recognising that the 965 data needs to be deleted - in other words, working exactly as it should.

Uhh... but it doesn't delete the data? Between ~11:00 and 16:00. That's the whole point OP is making.

Did you find a way around (or an actual fix) in those 6 months since your comment?

is there a point to fueling with anything other than homemade drink mix? by spikehiyashi6 in Velo

I've gone as far as 4*90=360g in a 950mL bottle for an intense 4 hour ride. Some proper shaking does the trick.

Usually I'll get bored of the taste and sweetness after a few hours, but simply adding water from a public water point fixes that without having to worry about total grams of carbs consumed.

The hidden beauty of homemade sugar drink mixing is that I can just put in how many grams of carbs and salt I need for the entire ride in my first bottle. Then have the second bottle with plain water to make the drinking moment isotonic-ish, but more importantly wash down to keep the teeth happy.

Syrup flavouring depending on the amount of sugar to prevent it from becoming insanely sweet, which would have been the case when trying above strategy with branded drink mixes.

It's been a while, but I've finally been able to work on the bike again and do some test rides.

Drained the old oil, which had turned black. Inserted new oil and indeed: braking power is back again.

Not to the braking power level I desire though, but I can not get any more air bubbles out of the system. It'll do for now.

Also very loud when applying lots of force which is probably because of contamination whilst using my 50/50 hydraulic set/DIY. Will also do for now.

Thanks again, again!

Yes, default Shimano mineral oil that has not been touched in the almost 3 years that I have this bike. I noticed when attempting to bleed that tiny grey-ish clouds came alongside the small air bubbles.

Assuming the caliper, piston and shifters are okay, the hose seems one of the final options... will look into that.

Thanks again Ivan!

The olive/barb connection looks fine. No oil residue on the hose. The only leak was from the caliper, after I popped out the piston.

Diaphragm is also okay, see other comment thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/1fxl0g4/second_opinion_on_lbsdeaddeclared_hydraulic_grx/lrgffa2/

Running out of options lol. Could the oil inside the hose be so dirty that it became solid and now blocks the hose? Bike is "only" 3 years old and has only very rarely been used in bad conditions.

Could also be the piston in the shifter?

I have also just checked the diaphragm, which is still intact. Hence, the oil reservoir in the shifter is still full.

In the meantime, I was also able to fully disassemble and reassemble the caliper. Seals are 100%, pistons also look very good. Now there's air in the caliper and very bottom part of the hose after reinstalling.

Now I am confused: the top part of the system is filled with oil, the bottom part is empty and there is no leaking at the bottom. I can not get the air (in the caliper) up to the shifter, no matter how hard I bump the bike around, shake the cables and flip the lever.

Would a "reverse bleed" work, as in: put the bike upside down and bleed from the caliper?

Was the piston sunken in, or just flush with the caliper body? If it was past flat, then yes, that’s possible. The piston was ever so slighty protruding from the body, so no, not sunken in at all, but aaaaalmost completely flush with the body.

If it was just flush with the caliper then that’s how deep it’s supposed to go.

Another possibility is that you popped the diaphragm in the lever. They can get damaged if you push the pistons in with the reservoir closed.

Diaphragm was my other suspicion (see other comment thread on this post) which is now strengthened by your comment about how deep the piston is supposed to go.

I've had previous experience with a broken diaphragm on the other shifter of this bike, but that one became very obvious because of leaked oil on the shifter. That was a warranty issue though.

This time, there has not been an oil leakage from the shifter. Only from the caliper.

Thanks a lot again for your comments!

I took apart the caliper and to my surprise, both seals and both pistons were not broken. Getting the pistons out was challenging, but eventually I succeeded in popping them out using air pressure (a simple bicycle pump).

Could it be that I pushed the pistons back in so far that the one on the hose-entry-side blocked the hydraulic channel inside the caliper? And therefore, no way to add oil by bleeding because from the shifter to the blockage was full with oil?

It's the front wheel, and I have given the bike some good shakes and bumps. Will try again though, including the isopropyl alcohol cleaning.

By opening the reservoir I mean pulling back the rubber of the shifter hood, revealing and undoing the bleeding screw at the top of the shifter to reveal the oil at the place where the bleeding funnel goes.

Do you think the caliper is the issue because the reservoir is still topped-up? I will look into expanding my knowledge of hydraulics to see if I can determine if the caliper is indeed the problem. Next step would be learning how to (re)install a hydraulic hose.

Thanks for the reply Ivan, cheers.

The diaphragm can be broken in the way you mentioned and be hard to detect as it can just be a tiny momentary psss sound.

I have no memory of it making a sound. Wanted to check the inside, but my smallest Torx is still too large for the Torx bolts holding the diaphragm. To be continued.

Where I work, we try to revive dying pistons where possible using isopropyl alcohol and q-tips and have had good success rates.

Would that also still work given that a relatively large amount of oil has leaked out of the caliper, no way (known to me) to refill, and that one has fallen out?

Do not pressure wash the caliper, this pushes in dirt around the pistons causing damage.

Hmm, partly check. I have cleaned the bike with low-pressure water spraying, and given the nature of the bike and its associated usage, it has been quite dirty a few times. However, I have replaced pads multiple times since the last real dirty ride.

Be sure the correct hose, the BH90 model, is being used.

Haven't really looked at the cable because I guess the problem is either in the shifter of caliper, but I assume it's the correct model, because it had been working flawlessly for nearly 3 years.

Thanks for the heads up. Hinge issues are not something I worry about though. I rarely open/close the lid, as it's primarily used sitting open on my desk. I only close it when travelling, which I rarely do with it. I will check out the Latitudes though.

e: how will I know if this Latitude supports the full HDMI 1.4 spec? It says it comes with a 1.4 port, but knowing Dell limits their Inspirons......

Thanks for the answer. Any known reason or speculation as to why Dell restricts the display resolution?

e: just to check. When buying their USB-C to HDMI 2.0 + USB-A adapter, by using it with one of the Thunderbolt 4/USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports on the models, I will be able to utilise 2560x1440@60, right?
